Hey guys do any of you know where to get those heavy duty rubber bands for the bow forms like the one Binghams has in their catalog? Or where do I get something close to it? I really need a rubber band as I have my form drilled and wooden dowels inserted. Thx
Bill
I used old innertubes from an tire store. cut them into rubberbands about 3/4" wide work fine put lots on some will break
I'm having some trouble with air bubbles under the glass will the rubber help with that?

Hey Bill,
I am new at this bow building stuff, but no stranger to clamping radius woodworking....i would highly recomend spending the time to build some air forms and use the firehose technique.....I've never seen such a uniform clamping system before, although there are a few tricks you'll need to learn.....There is a reason the pro's use this kind of camping system bro.....it's awsome!
Have you gotten the tape from Binghams on building glass bows?? it explains step by step on what and how to do it
Truck inner tubes work great - they make a super continuous rubber band and in my experience - black glass backing cures the air bubble problem.

3/8" surgical tubing, a 10' piece will double wrap a bow.
In the Bingham video the bands being used are from inner tubes.
find a local roofing company that installs rubber roofing and ask about scraps, or check their dumpster. I cut it into strips and there you have it rubber bands. they work better than tire strips.
Thanks guys.
