I enjoy making my own strings and have been hearing alot about padded loops lately.I like to use D-97 and I hear alot of people like mixing in B-50 for the padding in the loops, is there a benefit to using the B-50 or could I just use extra strands of D-97?I learned watching Chad's DVD, "Doin the twist"-great instruction.Thanks.
You can just use the D97. Some people, myself included feel that using B50 as padding decreases noise.
I find the B50 wears quicker than D97 or 450+. So I usually just add extra strands of the same material I'm using...Doc
It is just padding that is not in tension. Anything is good.
I think they use b-50 because its cheaper and since its not for tension it works good.

can someone explain the method they use to pad the string loops? (i.e.) how long, how many strands, etc.?
