Well My Wife and I spilt-up on April 14Th, I then grabed some stuff and came to Texas.. anyone know of some State land to hunt on near Wharton, TX
Welcome to the bowhunting Promise Land! The Colorado River is very close to you. There is a River crossing on HWY 59 that has some great bowfishing access. The river shore is actually shallow enough to wade along. I've seen some great fish there while I didn't have a bow. There is also great Goose and hog hunting in the area. State Land? Humm? Don't know of any but check the TPW Website and you'll surely find some somewhere close. Aransas Wildlife is south of you and full of game including Gators, which is now legal game. Good luck! CK

Did you drive to Texas? hope you will enjoy
Take care,

Check out the Corp of Engineer properties adjacient to many Texas lakes. I'm not familier with Wharton, don't even know where it is located in this great state of ours but I would be surprised if you could not find some corp land nearby.
Here's a link to some Army Corp lands.

Welcome and hope all works out for you, plenty of good PUBLIC LAND here in Deep East Texas, about 4 hours from you or so.
Big Traditional 3-D shoot on May 19th and 20th, here in Chester, PM for more info.
Mystic,, You picked the right place to go , I absolutely love Texas esp the SW , the people, the game the fish, the food, and well the lack of other people I may be soon to follow, pick us out some good spots and good luck...
There very little public land in Texas. 85 percent of Texas is privately own. Most people (if you can afford it) lease or go on day hunt leases. The Texas Parks & Wildlife have certain places you can hunt but it's on a draw system.
I hunt on a little piece of TEXAS called Davy Crockett National Forest, only 140,000 acres.
Must be in the 15% SIDEBUSTER is talking about.
EAST TEXAS has plenty of Public Land, come over and hunt it sometime.
