A couple Black Widows and a Morrison and a Quillon , I find they are so much easier to travel with , I have an older aluminum compound bow case thay can hold 2 takedown bows about 2 and 1/2 dozen arrows and still have room for some clothes . By the way did you ever get hooked up with some fish arrows ? Fred

have two Widows that, unfortunately, aren't getting much use, and 4 Hill sleeve take downs.   I really like the sleeve take downs... nothing could be simpler.   In fact, it looks like Widow has gone to a variation of it in their new system.     Travel is the issue... not a problem with the minivan, but try getting two peopls, some gear and a few longbows into a Geo Metro!

Here's a pic of my travel setup:

That's a Hill and a Widow and I can get a dozen arrows in the case.  The case is a standard $30 plastic arrow case, generally available at most archery shops.

Black Widow, Bear B Handles, Bruin WoodMaster. Take downs fit better in a bush plane.

I dont own any store bought takedowns (or any store bought bows at all for that matter), but I've built a few.  Here are two that I happen to have pics of on photobucket:

My sleeved takedown hickory recurve:

A Ballistick recurve TD and a Treadway long bow.  Prefer the single piece but needed something for the ease of traveling.

I hunt with a Robertson Overdrive TD, a Thunderstick TD, and I have a Selway Lil' Shooter TD.  In recurves I have a Shawn Peterson TD that my son Chase hunts with and I have a Zipper and a Schafer Silver Ghost.  The Schafer is my bowfishing rig.  It never gets taken apart and in fact has been strung for over 10 years.  If one does any air travelling at all, a take down is a must.
Now if I could just find a bow case that fits a recurve and a longbow and a couple dozen arrows, and is indestructible, I would have it made.

Adcock ACS CX 64" 49#@28"  3-piece takedown.  By far the best bow I have ever shot or owned.  Although it is a 3-piece, I rarely take it down.  Even when I travel, I just unstring it, remove the strap on quiver and put it in a tube case.  i do like the extra weight of the 3-pieces though.

Yesterday I dusted off my t/d Fedora 560. Its a 64" recurve custom made for me back in 2000. I've used it for many seasons off and on. Placed high in tournaments with light limbs 43#, and killed a P&Y qualifyer (never entered) black bear in 03 with it. I've decided it will be my hunting bow this season for deer.

I'm very partial to TD bows. So much easier to travel with. I'm now the proud owner of three Massie "Longhorn" takedowns,; a Massie Model "M" TD recurve; and a Black Widow PMA-V TD recurve. It is just to differcult to fly with your equipment today without having TD bows. Course when hunting locally, I grab whatever bow I'm using that hunting season. This year (2008) it was my 66" one piece Howard Hill "Wild Boar".
