Title: HELP!!
Post by: bmfer on April 14, 2007, 03:14:00 PM
My daughter and I went and shot 3d this morning. I've only had my Savannah about 2  and a half months. I shot my best score yet with my longbow and was in a good mood. I unstrung the bow and laid it on the back seat of the truck. When we got home my daughter got out of the truck, opened the back door, got her compound out and SHUT THE DOOR ON MY LIMB TIP  :scared:  Now there is a nick right in the string groove. Can I smooth it out, and with what?

It has happened tomany of us (usually self caused)

Can you post a picture so we can assess the damage?

LOL well depending on it's depth and location sandpaper or chainsaw file. Of course you'll rub thru the finish so you'll have to spray or wipe some kind of finish in that area to keep out the moisture (make sure it's compatible with the makers finish).

If I lived close enough tothe maker I'd drive it over and let him fix it, but with the way USPS and UPS are treating bows these days, I'd rather fix it myself than mail it back and forth.

I don't think it's too bad, just a nick that I can hang my fingernail on with a little discoloration in the black fiberglass lam. Waiting for my OTHER daughter to help with pic.

Ouch!

Just to keep things in perspective.
The joy of having your daughter shoot 3D with you should outweigh a scratched limb tip.

I'm sure the guys here can help you fix it. Just don't let your daughter feel too bad about it.   :)

I'd voluntarily run over one of my bows if my daughters wanted to go shoot. I'm always taking their boyfriends and they just lose arrows.

My daughter is still in perfect health, and she's DESTROYED more expensive things. All will be OK.

I don't see any thing in the pic, so it can't be that bad.

That i s not bad at all. I would fill it with a little epoxy and sand it smooth and wipe on a some spar urethane. Shawn

I would make sure it is smooth cause if starts fraying your string, you'll wind up with a nasty surprise at full draw. Hap
