I am, and always have been a Recurve shooter. Recently I was given a Longbow, by a friend. I "strung 'er up" and all looks well, except I have no idea what the brace height should be. I did a search but came up with nothing for sure. Any suggestions, I would like to get this new Longbow Experience going. Thanks
What kind of longbow is it?
I'd say if it's a straight end longbow like a Hill, start with 6 1/2". If it's a R/D type like a Pronghorn, start with 7"+. it's really just a starting point, and you will need to determine where the bow shoots best for you, with your arrows and shooting style.
Good luck!
Thank's ...The guy I got it from said he bought from the "internet auction" He had to cut the arrow shelf and glue the tip overlays on. It is still unfinished, looks like Hickory and two other woods I can not identify. Shoots pretty good considering I have never shot a Longbow. I will try 7".
