Post by: DTS on April 12, 2007, 06:55:00 PM
I have an older hoyt huntmaster and want to camo the bow.  Any ideas on the best way appreciated. Thought I had seen a topic on this before but could not find it.  Hope this is the correct forum to post in.

im not sure but i think you may be able to buy camo limb sleeve's from cabela's. check it out under their tradition archery section they actually have some decent stuff. i no that outdoorlife ran an article awhile ago on how to camo up your rifle using spray paint. i guess you use a dark green base and brown to spray the outlines of leaves and other materials in your hunting area. good luck get back to me about how it works on both idea's id like to here the results.
good luck

you can do it any way you like number1 black and green and brown black boadr paint works real well or number2 use camo socks that you can buy from any of your hunting shops over there. it all depends how you want to do it and what you want it to look like when finished. good luck with it. post pics when done      :campfire:

If it is a darker colored wood all I would do is rub it down with 0000 steel wool and leave it. If you want it to shine again use some Scratch out by Kit you can buy it at Ace or Wally World.

If it's an older bow and to be used as a hunter I would just get some flat paints in a 3 or 4 earth tones and be creative.

Buy some cloth camo tape. Ya can remove it easily and it looks real good. Puit it on in strips and it molds around  stuff very well. Shawn

I spray painted my Groves, its a weapon not a showpiece. If you go to  www.asatcamouflage.com (http://www.asatcamouflage.com)  you can find some neat 3D camo for the limbs.

It's 3D leaves sewn to very light mesh. Just peel back the backing and it "tapes" to your bow.
Peels off very easy, I believe you can do 3 bows with one roll of tape.

I spray my bow and stand tan. Then I grab some ferns or other small leafy branches and hold them against the object and spray through them. Alternate the way you hold the leaves and you will get a very realistic looking camo job.

Spray paint.  As plain or fun as you want to make it.  You would be surprised how well a green bow with a few swipes of black and light tan can get lost in the woods.

White buf. did you tape both sides of your bows?  Is the tape effected when the bow is stressed?

They way I have done it was to use a brown, green, and black spray flat paint. take a leaf for pattern and spray over that and move around on the bow. If you don't like it do it over.
