Great pictures! I'm so happy that he has recovered and is able to shoot again. It's amazing how fast the youngsters can bounce back from surgery.

Just wanted to thank all of you that sent the well wishes, prayers and showed concern for Cade's healing...Thank You,he's doing great :notworthy:
THE LAST PIC SAYS ALOT
Great stuff as always Curt!
Looks like you had a sunny albeit brisk day for some stump shooting. Glad to hear Cade is feeling better. I didn't know anything had happened.
I'm guessing you've already tried Cade on left handed bow? With that closed right eye I wonder if he isn't taking after his papa in more ways that one.
My son Charlie is two years old and he likes to shot a hand me down self bow that Charlie Lamb built. The only problem is he wants to use his Dads 600 grain arrows.
Chris
That "little break" picture is one for the trophy wall. How come his bow is cooler than yours?
What awesome photos!!! You are giving me thought to dream about. My son is only 8 months young right now, but I hope one day I will be able to share these types of moments with him. Thank you so very much for sharing!!!!
James
That's great Curt. I am so happy he is doing well.
On the eye thing, have you checked to see which eye dominant he is? If I was a betting man I'd say left eye and that's why he's closing the right.
Neat Curt, those are great pictures! A new shooting partner, picture taker, day sharer! Glad to hear he is feeling better and back to shooting again. Ya and are you sure he is not left eye dominate? I have those smaller guys look through a small hole in a piece of paper. That way I know which eye they favor. For sure!
I can hardly wait to get my 5 year old grandson out!
Brent
Alright!!!!! That's what I've been waiting to see, I'm glad Cade's back to his "old" self again.
David
great pictures af cade and now of you too, thats awesome
Haha...gotta love it...
Glad to see Cade's out and about with the bow once more...
Awesome pictures, it just goes to show you that you can't keep a good man down!
Thank you Curt!! That made my day!!!!! Hope I shoot next to him someday, I think I could learn a thing or two....
Great pics and a great time. I look forward to spending time in the woods with my kids. I took my second son with me into the woods Tuesday evening to check on how the clover was doing and look for sheds. He was great and whispered the whole time. I need to make them a bow like that. Great job.
Awesome pics....
I really like the last one, might use it for my background on my work computer, if ya don't mind.
Very cool Curt! You can never have enough of those kind of days - truly a treasure for the rest of your life
That last pic is AWSOME!!!!!!!
Great photos! I did notice the little guy's bow AND groups are better than mine. ;)
Curt, great pictures. I love shooting with my grandkids especially the 4 yr old. It don't get any better. Ref you e-mail to me on the snakes skins. I'll wait till the magazine comes out.
Thanks
Jon Stewart
Semper Fi
very cool. Are you going to take him turkey hunting this year?
curt, last pic might be avatar material for ya right there..
any thought on letting him try a southpaw bow, might help with that eye closing thing,
looks like yall had a good urn
Great pics, Curt! I know how ya feel. It's great shooting with the boys! My son and I have a blast together. He's now 16, so I'm wondering how long I'll have with him. You know, jobs, school, and GIRLS!(Yuck!)
Enjoy these times, cause they go fast. My oldest is 21 and getting married this Sept!
Lee
Too cool! brings tears to my eyes and a big smile to my face-
Looks like I'm gonna have someone to hand my bows down to.......he's definitely left eye dominant!!!!
I didn't think he was old enough to do the "hole in the paper test",so I never did it. But I did it today several times, not doubt about it!
Now I have to make him a bow. Lee Miller was kind enough to send a roughed out osage stave to me after the last thread..Looks like I'll be asking a lot of questions from all you self bow guys....I'm gonna make him a left handed bow!!!
Great pics Bud...my little guy loves flinging arrows in the yard...gonna try him out at some 3d's or weekend shoots this year...
Awesome!

Great pictures as usual Curt.Looks like you have some future hunting Bud there.Glad to see that the little guy is all healed up.Hey I think he grew a couple of inches since the last posts.
Guess I should have placed some bets after all. ;)
Curt, he may be left eye dominanant. have him shoot a BB gun and see which way he pulls it up to his shoulder.Darryls boy shot like your boy and than we switched him to lefty and he really improved. Very nice pictorial bud!! Shawn
Glad to see the little guy's doin well. Great pics again Curt. Welcome back to shootin, Cade!
great to see the little guys with a bow. i just found out i should have a new two year old cousin by late may, his name is Zenobu and he's odopted from ethiopia. cant wait to get him out doing that kinda stuff with his big cousin. great pics guru
-cory
Great to hear Curt, glad hes doin well. Bet he thinks Dad is cool doin bow stuff with him!
Yeah, I had to do the eye test on my 3 and 6 year olds this fall so Santa would know what Rhinos to order. :D
Unfortunately the 3 year old can't move into the 6 year old's bow as one is left eye dominant. Ol' Murphy doin his thing!
Great pics and thanks for sharing.
Curt,
All the money in the world can't buy what you have with your son. Your a rich man.
Glad to here it.Great pics.
Glad to see he's shooting again Curt.
I've made a few left handed selfbows. You decide you need a hand, look me up.
It would be a good project to get Cade involved in. Father and son making a bow together. Couldn't think of a better way to pass time.
Just got off a long days work. Your pics made my day. Thanks for sharing. :goldtooth:
Great Pictures Curt! Its great to see youngsters in traditional archery. Is the area that you were stump shooting at the Stewart Airport land. The area looks very familiar to me.
Can't look at that boy without wanting good things to happen to him!
Great pix of a great day.
Shoot ain't nothin to building a left handed selfbow, ya just build it so the string runs down the center and shoot it off the other side. Glad he's back at it Curt.
Great pictures Curt,And I am glad Cade is feeling better.
Hard to believe my youngest is eighteen and will be hunting antelope with me this fall.Looking forward to meeting Cade and the rest of youre family someday.
Tracy
Thanx guys :notworthy:
Keith, Your the first guy I thought of when this came up. David gave me an idea that might keep him in this bow(turn it over and carve it out a bit,add a shelf). If that doesn't work out,I'll be callin' ya bud.
If I do build him a bow, he says he wants "King Cobra" skins on it......kids :(
Awesome pictures. Thanks for sharing!
The bow should be no problem. No carving needed, if you can redo the handle wrap you can buildup a shelf under. (I can't tell too well from the pictures, it looks like the bow is thinned out a bit on the arrow side. If that's so than do turn the bow on end but don't worry about carving out a sight window or anything silly like that. Cool bows, like his, don't need one. :p )
Way to go 'Dad' ! ;)
COOL, glad to see He's doing good
The last picture is a pure classic & says everything!
Beautiful!!!
Larry
You bet Curt......great pics...thanks for sharing.
The Heartbreaker's got some dynamite form there yet again. :goldtooth:
Cool, he's back in business. Kind of embarassing for me, but I think he shoots better than I do. :)
Great pictures!
Man O Man ya think he was shooting good before. Look out dad! Theres gonna be a new compeditor in town! Yeah bring that son of yours over to the right side of the bow! :bigsmyl: With the rest of us Curt! :archer:
Brent
Curt,Priceless great pics glad Cade doing well, talk soon..ED
Spend all the time you can with them while they're young 'cause they grow up before you know it....Thanks for sharing...
beautiful people caught at a very special moment
Thanks fellers
Very neat pictures. I like the last one best.
This thread put a big smile on my face. Glad to see you and Cade are back out gettin-after-it. And what I wouldnt give to have my own photographer/videographer. You are indeed a lucky man Curt. :archer:
A little awkward, but Cade made his first attempt at shooting left handed yesterday. We just flipped his bow over, put some tape on the side and he shot off his hand. We just wanted to see what he thought....like I said, awkward, but in time it'll all be second nature......
bringin' her back.....

It sure is cool for me to see him on that side of the bow,he likes it too.....
Now to alter the bow :scared:
Looks like he's really contemplating that group there, Curt...
Great stuff Curt, they are so much fun! He will do so much better, and its so much easier now than later. And look at it this way, now you can buy twice as many bows for yourself & Cade. Now if needed, you have twice the excuse's!
Brent
Curt, I told ya. Darryls kid was shooitng very well within a week or so. Very Cool!! Shawn
Good for you Cade!! I think you should be all set Curt, have at it my friend....
David
Great job Cade!!!
Looks like Cade is a true lefty.... Nice shooting buddy!
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.... I enjoy seeing the kids shooting at a young age.... Curt you're getting him started right!
Good shootin Cade. There you go Curt a chip of the old riser so to speak.
Curt,
Hunter, (who shoots left handed too), just saw the pics of Cade shooting left handed, he says, "Dad that's cool, do we have any other left handed bows we can send him?"
Pretty neat to hear from a 10 year old......
David
Doug, He might be a "true lefty"...He bats left handed...since the time he was old enough to swing things,he always did it lefty...but he eats and writes right handed.....
In reality he's just like me now.....my dad made me left handed when I was young playing baseball.....but I eat and write right handed. But I've always shot lefty, never thought about the "dominant eye thing" till I started reading about and shooting a recurve...it was then I learned I was lucky,I was left eye dominant.....
but he still throws righty.......
..didn't get a chance to mess with his bow today...but I told him I'd have it ready for him this coming weekend.....
David, I can't wait to meet Hunter at Muzzy
Hi Curt
I do everything left handed except play ball & golf then I'm a righty. Us leftys just seem to be wired a little differant. Then again a lot of it, is how and who taught us. If he has a BB gun and is shooting right handed, try and switch him over to LH. He will do much better there also if he becomes a shotgunner. Glad to see he is feeling better!
Brent
Curt, when I was young, about 10 years old I started shooting my Dad's right handed Bear recurve bow..... There were 4 of us kids and if you wanted to shoot you shot the only bow in the house.....right handed. I also learned how to play baseball right handed, we only had one mitt too!
I started hunting with a bow at 14, shooting right handed..... and I killed a bunch of stuff over the next 34 years that way.... even though I later learned that I was left eye dominant...I didn't want to change as it was working OK for me.
I shot my bows right handed until 3 years ago, when I got tennis elbow so bad in my left elbow that I decided I had to switch to shooting left handed or give up shooting a bow.....
So at the age of 48 I switched to lefty..... I have two grown boys(19 & 24)and one is a true lefty. When he was young I made it a point to make sure he had the equipment and the opportunity to do things left handed... So, I barrowed my sons left handed longbow and gave it a try....
I still can not believe how easy it was for me to switch and I am shooting better now than I ever could right handed.... Ohhhhhh, the shots I wish I could have back.... I only wish I had done it sooner, like at 15 years old.
It's critical that kids and every new archer get off to a great start with the right instruction and equipment.
I can see that Cade's going to do just fine.........
Curt,
Those are some great pics and good shooting. It's great to spend a day out with the kids, looks like you guy's had a great time. Joe and i went out on sat and had a ball our selves, kids will never forget the time we spend with them, the payback is tenfold.
Glad to see that boy shootin! Glad he is doing better! Hope to see him in Texas sometime in the near future. I've got some pigs and rabbits for him. CK
Doug, I think about "about the shots I wish I could have back",and I've always shot left handed!!
Cade's going to be way better off in the long run.
Curtis, Thanx bud....I hope so too!!
