Drove down to Tim's shop (Kota Bowhunting Company) yesterday and picked up my new Prairie Swift. Only took him 3 months to finish it.
This bow literally took my breath away; it was even more beautiful than I imagined it would be.
It's Bocote with Bamboo limbs and Bocote veneer on both back & belly. It's exactly as I specified 55#@29".
It shoots even better than it looks. It has a nice slim grip, the most comfortable of any bow I've yet tried. It's smooth with absolutely no stack through the draw and little or no hand shock on release. At full draw, it feels nowhere near 55lbs. It's also the most quiet bow I've shot, and far & away the most quiet I own.
The Swift is aptly named; this is one fast bow!
Couldn't chronograph it today because it was overcast, but will get it done in the near future. I can say it zipped 30" 2413's and CX 4560 Terminator Hunters very impressively, and shot both equally well.
Much as I love my CM's and won't be selling them any time soon, Tim's Kota Prairie Swift surpasses them in beauty, performance, and shootability. I have a new favorite and primary bow. Here it is...

Nice wood choices!
congrats on the new bow
wow!!, real nice bow!!!!!!!!
That is beautiful!
Wow, What a beauty!!
I really like those Praire Swift bows. They have the look of an old Dammon Howatt Hi-Speed. Both of which I would like to try some day. Congrats on a fine bow!!
Great looking Bocote and bow.<><
I've had 3 Kota's (still own 1) and they have all been great shooters, but no where near as pretty as yours! Love that Bacote.
Wow super.Ill be keepin my eye on you, just in case you post it in the classifieds. :readit:
Love that bocote! What length bow is it?
60". Chronographed 184FPS with a 535 grain arrow this morning. No question it will generate 190FPS or better with a touch lighter arrow.
Shoots super sweet, really feels alive in the hand. A true Medicine Bow. I swear Tim is equal parts engineer, artist, and shaman.
The deer are gonna rue the day this bow was built!...
BTW, pardon the casual rural ND clothes. It was feeding time for the horses, and they aren't known for advanced personal hygiene...
I was too busy Lookin' at that Beauty of a Bow to even see who or what was Holding it up!! Thats a Purty One, in more ways than Looks from what I am reading!! CONGRATS!!
MMMMMM Bacote and Boo! Very nice I hope you have good luck with it.
Congrats on the new bow, it is a looker. Alan
Goodness, that bacote is beautiful. congratulations!
Nice looking bow ND, no wonder my kill-um recurve is taking so long. I had to call tim and ask if there is favor if your from north dakota, must be. He said he's sending it out tomorrow. Enjoy that nice bow.
Take care :bigsmyl:
Believe I saw your bow the day I was down there J. There were a couple other than mine ready to go or just needed to be finished.
Tim won't ship a bow until it's perfect. About 3 hours after he let me know my bow was ready, he advised he wasn't completely satisfied with the finsh, that he was going to strip it & re-finish it, and that it would be up to his standards and ready the next day.
Tim also had a new prototype hybrid he was working on that he showed me/let me fondle.
Nice....
Do you have a force draw curve for your new bow? Just measure the draw weight from 10" to your draw length every 2".
Jason
No I don't, Jason. You might get ahold of Tim and see if he's done any on his various designs...
BTW, it really seems to like 30" 4560 CX Terminator Hunters, 125 grain point. Shoots equally well with standard inserts or 50 grain brass...
Well ND,
How'd my bow LOOK?
All the finished bows were freakin' gorgeous!...
