Title: spray painting the inside of a blind
Post by: bbassi on April 11, 2007, 04:33:00 PM
I think I remember reading in here about someone spray painting the inside of their blind black, but couldn't find it with the search option. I seem to remember you should use a special auto paint for best results. Anyone remember the specifics?

what kind of blind are you painting? Isn't the inside dark from shadow?

I tried to darken my DB (before they did the dark stuff)Called them and got some black paint they reccommended from Auto Zone. Don't remember the type. I used about 6 cans and can barely tell I put any on.
Maybe the ameristep will work better. Be careful of fumes.

Brent I planned on using exterior latex paint on one I built years ago but never got around to it. Would add a bit of weight to the blind though but should work well.

I use cans of black vinyl automotive dye.

I also tried the black automotive paint.  Don't know if I used the woring stuff or what, but like MacBow it didn't work well at all.  I sold the blind and bought a DB Matrix recurve model with the black interior.

I tried it too using the black auto paint that was recommended with same poor results.  Also sold blind.

Go to your local auto parts store and get a vinyl dye called "Mar Hyde". It is the best fabric dye in a spray can I have ever used.

I posted about two years ago wanting to know if anyone had any suggestions for painting the inside of my blind.  I have an Ameristep doghouse made before the black interior.  Never got any ideas that sounded like they would work.  I'm going to try the Mar Hyde if I can find some.
