I got a pair of lacross rubber boots for bowhunting, Do you guys tuck your pants in or leave em over top the boots? Does it matter? thanks
Second DTala;
Keeps scent from pants leg from getting on brush.
ditto the last two comments
Does it matter?
Walk in some calf deep water, that will tell ya! :biglaugh:
Depends. If I'm stalking i have the legs out because sticks and brush slapping are loud against a rubber boot. Tucked in keeps you warmer. Just remember once you tuck in ya gotta leave it that way cause your pant legs will get stinky and sweaty in a hurry.
If your pants legs are just the right length and drape well, you can leave them out. If your boots are scratched and muddy, you must leave the pants legs out to cover them, regardless of how long they are compared to this year's fashion. But the boots are the thing, you know, and you should show them off if they are handsome.
OK, next time you see me, just smack me~ hard!! :knothead:
Killdeer :wavey:
Obviously an ugly boot day.

Tucked...I didn't buy camo boots for nothing
Tucked in, then you don't have to wear socks :goldtooth:
Tucked in and bloused over the tops.
Very stylin' :saywhat:

thanks, I was thinking(tuck in) it would help keep the ticks from crawling up my pants this turkey season too!
Tucked in for sure, or your pants will soak up water and you'll get wet.
well, I guess I'll be diff....when wearing scent lok,I wear my pants over the top to help control the scent coming out of the boots........
Wear hunting culottes and you don't have to think about it. :scared:
When in tick country, tuck pant leg into sock, then cinch top of rubber boot tight.
This will save your wife about 15 minutes of quality time going over ya with a tweezers, but then again.......
Jim
Yeah I got nailed by the ticks last turkey season, bad!
Didn't Brad Paisley just write a song about that?
The best thing in the world for ticks are buckwing brand gaiters. They are made out of the same type of material that an elbow brace is made out of and they go over your pantleg/boot laces. They protect your cuffs, keep ticks and chiggers out and keep the laces tied and burr free. I don't go in the woods without them when it is hot.
As for the original question, pant legs definately go in. Only a renegade like Guru would wear them out. ;o)
personaly, i like them in, seems easier that way, specialy trying to cross a small stream or something like that, and not having to worry if the legs drag. my bibs are too bulky to let me wear them that way though and it annoys the heck out of me.
You buy rubber boots for two reasons. Dryness and scent controll. With the exception of scentlock pants, all others should be worn inside if you are hunting something where scent is an issue.
absolutely Dave!
No...I really bought them for the camo pattern.
Tucked in and Duct-Taped around the Top, just to be Safe!
Why is it either/or? In the fall, I usually wear two pair of pants, one in, one out. Keeps the boots from irritating my leg and keeps stuff from falling into the boot.
I don't tuck in my pant legs.
Try tucking on a wet rainy day and your boots will be so full of water you'll have to dump them out every couple of hundred yards. Plus, for those of us that live in snow country, unless you tape the top of your boots to your pants, they fill up with snow pretty fast.
Pour a glass of water in each of your boots and walk a mile. Your feet will become skinless real fast.
Good Point.
