Does anyone use mulberry for self bows? If so how much does a mulberry stave sell for?
I've made several nice selfbows of mulberry, including my present favorite. Wingnut once told me that the best selfbow he ever made was mulberry.
I believe Pine Hollow sells them for 45-60 bucks. Look him up on the sponsors list....Terry
No, ship all your straight grain Mulberry to me for disposal.
2 of the best self bows I ever made were from Mulberry. It reminds me of Osage without the weight. It even looks and smells somewhat like Osage just not as heavy.
Hmmm, Ideas, Ideas. I have a Mulberry tree in my front yard.
funnyone long bow tom.
traditional_archer you might get in trouble if you cut it down.
lol, 702plmo I stay in trouble with the Mrs. quite a bit.
I've seen mulberry growing along fence rows in Indiana. Birds love the berries and do a good job of replanting ...along fence rows. Pat
Tons of the stuff around here
Joe, I have my eyes on a few. Maybe we can get together and you can show me how to make a selfbow.
Also Joe please read the thread I started on the LDB forum.
I have two nice staves in my side yard. I will cut them before I move next year.
I just bought a Mulberry stave on a popular internet auction site (sound familiar?) for $46 plus shipping = $62. Looks great. Sure hope I can do it justice as soon as I complete the white oak stave I bought from Mike Yancey @ Pine Hollow. Picked that one up myself. Should complete it today (see my "Ol' Cracker posts recently).
