I bought this Bow at a yard sale today for $5. It's a Howatt 44#@28" (Monterey}. Does anybody know the history of this recurve. The Bow is in great shape and has no marks or stress cracks in the glass. Thanks

Brent
Can't tell ya any thing about it, but you obviously got a deal. Good find.
sweet deal
I'll give ya $10 for it? lol
You might check out "archery talk" web site. They have history on Martin bows. Want to double your money? :>) Nice bow.
Darn it just my luck someone beat me to it. LOL
If that was found near Newtown, I lost it. ;)
You lucked out, mister.
Killdeer
You (lucky)dawg...
Good for ya!
What length is it?
Sorry Killdeer it was near Newtown. The bow is 57" long from tip to tip un-strung. So this is a Martin model recurve? Its a nice Bow. I need Chad to make me a string for it. Thanks for the info!!

WOW! What a find! Good for you.
Give ya $25 for it, and a half dozen ash arrows
Be careful ordering a string for it. The Monterey is listed as a 62" bow. It was available in weights from 30-75#s. In 1972 they made a 66" and 69" model of it.
In the picture, it is marked 62" on the limb. Probably need a 58" B-50 string for her.
Congratulations on a great find!
Man by the reaction from you guys it looks like it was my lucky day :goldtooth: . I can't wait to shoot some arrows through this Baby!!! Thanks again!!

It was Howatts second best bow with there top of the line being the Del Rio. It cost a little under $60 new in the 60s.
That's almost as good as my Bear Kodiak Magnum 55# rescued from the dump. :D
some woman came into the shop this week with 2 Tamerlanes, a Darton, Bear Grizzly and perhpas a Herters, the last htree are cammo'd so hard to tell what's 8under them, several boxes of arrows, bow reels, quivers, hip quivers and assorted good stuff. Asked almost nothing for them. I have my eye on the griozzly and got a near new Young burner. Can't wait to see how Rick prices them.
i seen a pair of tamerlanes that were brand new condition go for a grand
With out a doubt the best five dollars you'll ever spend!!
Now ya see....that's just wrong!
I've NEVER seen anything like THAT in a yard sale up here!!!!!shhhesh!

A friend of mine has two of them and they both shoot great. What a steal.
