As i will travel more and more
Any ideas or experiences with differents systems used ??
What about the " bolt system " from Warren archery ??
If some of you have tried it ??
Let me know about.
Thank you
I've not tried the bolt because it's too expensive, but everyone seems to love it. I've had many successes with the $35 brass/steel sleeve takedown hardward (3 Rivers, Pine Hollow, etc.), which comes in different sizes and shapes. I like the small D, which needs 1" handle thickness x 3/4" width. I like the idea of the hardware going on the outside of the wood, to reinforce it, rather than inside, to weaken it. Mixed reports on the Robertson hinge.
The Bolt worked great on Hope (the bow the Horne's donated for the St. Judes Auction) when I had it. It was rock solid and worked very easily.
I just researched this a couple of weeks ago. My bowyer uses the bow-bolt sytstem but will not take an existing bow and cut it. I have now decided to order a new bow from him with the bow-bolt in it. Some people may install the bow-bolt in your bow and Warren Archery (site sponsor and designer of the bow-bolt) would be the person to talk to. He was very helpful and returned all of my e-mails very promptly. In the end, I decided against cutting my one-piece based on the opinions of my bowyer. These were merely my conclusions so check it out...it may be just the ticket for you! Good luck.
thank you very much for your differents answers :)
I had a Robertson hinge installed in 56" GN Ghost a few years back...before the bow bolt. It makes a real nice travel recurve. Only problem is I now love my 3 piece Morrisons too much to use it :) Doc
