I had a great opener to the Kansas archery turkey season on Sunday. I called in two gobblers right at first light. When they passed the side of the blind at about 3 yards I could hear their wings dragging through the grass and their drumming provided eerie background music to the whole scene. When the first bird reached the front of the blind I sent a snuffer through his chest at a distance under 5 yards. He run about 15 yards, stopped, and fell over dead. Needless to say, I was just a little bit excited! He's my first with a bow and provided me with the most exciting hunt I've ever experienced in over 20 years of chasing spring gobblers. It may be hard to pick up the shotgun again.
Here's a couple of pics.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I've only relived the hunt in my mind about a thousand times over the last few days.
Drew - the bird was a two year old, 10-inch beard, spurs just under an inch. I didn't weigh it but I would guess around 18 or 19 pounds. Because of the area I'm hunting it's probably considered an eastern/rio hybrid but he has very strong rio characteristics. The bow is a Black Widow SAIII, 53@28, shooting easton legacy shafts with snuffer broadheads.
Thanks again guys and good luck to all of you.
Bill
