Working on some skins. Got them all ready except the tru-oil. Think they are turning out good for my first try.

Nice set of skins there!
Swweet
Thanks for the compliments! Vermonster, they are a nice set of skins aren't they. I was real pleased with them when they arrived. They kept their color real well when I applied them. They are over Bacote limbs.
I actually "rescued" this bow from a bowyer friend of mine. He had rejected it because of some checking in the riser, it was in the garbage can!!!! Now, I understand that he could not sell it, but come on. Anyway, I brought it home and reshaped the riser some to get rid of the checking. The checking was in the sight window, so it is a little bigger than usual since I sanded out the checks.
Bacote riser, belly, and back was a tad too much for me. So I skinned it. Naming her "R and R" for rejected and rescued, rich and rare, rest and relaxation, or whatever else.
I'll post some more pics and specs when she's done.
WOW!!!! awesome dude :notworthy: :clapper: :clapper:
bullofthewoods,
Nice job and nice looking skins, tru-oil will darken the skins just a shade, if you want to keep them lighter you can use Montana Pitch Blend, or any good water proffing for leather a couple of light coats and wipe down the excess and easy to re coat whenever you want.
Wow! So, it was free? Now you can't beat that. Nice job. Would like to see the whole thing put together.
Yeah Jerry, FREE! I'll post a pic when it's all done. Also did up a new riser for my longbow, since I broke my old one. I'll post it too. Feels like Christmas around here!
Great job on the skins! Can't wait to see the whole bow when it's done.
very nice.
ttt-new pics added. bow finished!!!
Very Nice Skins and an Awsome Bow!! I could stand being called a "Dumpster-Diver" to Rescue Something THAT Good Looking!! Great Job!!! :archer:
That's a great looking bow! And the price is right too! The old saying 'one man's trash is another man's treasure' sure holds true in this case. Congratulations on a fine bow. Mike
Where's your buddy's shop? may have to go dumpster diving there myself! Very nice bow.
WOWZERS! I like the looks of that there bow.<><
Scattershot,
It's Neil Jacobson from Bear's Paw Bows. But your gonna have to be pretty quick to beat me to his garbage can!
LOL! That is one fine bow. I don't get to Montana much, so I guess you're safe!
