Title: 'Harvesting' laminate
Post by: JStark on April 01, 2007, 03:56:00 PM
I've just gotten rid of an old particleboard desk, though I've kept the desktop, as I'd like to peel the laminate off of it to back bows with.  Any suggestions?

Heat gun. You know like the paint stripper variety. Gotta be glued on some kinda way.
What kinda wood is it?

If the heat gun doesn't work..... dampen a thin towel, and then use a clothes iron. sometimes this will raise the grain a bit in the process, but no damage that a light sanding wont take care of. The steam sometimes works when heat alone doesn't. This is a great way to repair dents in a veneered piece of furniture too.
