Title: T/D Recurve limb cracks at the wedge
Post by: BigHink66 on March 30, 2007, 09:29:00 PM
My bow has cracks in both limbs where the bolts and pinholes are?  Should I be concerned about this.  I paid alot of money for the bow and I don't like to even know that they are there, let alone see them.

The bow is going back tomorrow to the bowyer for a delaminated tip.  I am still in the first year of ownership and my warranty is 100%.

Again, is this normal?  The cracks are in the direction of the length of the limb.

FYI I am shooting a 620 gr arrow on a 60LB bow.  So I don't think my arrows could be considered light.

happens to a couple of well known bowyers bows, especially if you tighten the limb bolts to much. mark it with a permanent marker and so long as they don't move, you should be fine. A little dab of superglue is cheap insurance.

You will get some small hair line cracks a lot when drilling the holes on a take down.  If super glue will flow into them they will dissapear.  This part of the limb is not working and if they are only in the glass, close to the holes and dont grow I dont think you have a problem at all.

I had a take down with the same problem and
shot it for two years like that

I read somewhere that blowing the super glue with compressed air would help it get deeper into the cracks.  Just a thought.
