Soon I want to start some board bows for my 3 and 4 yr old grand kids. I'm going to leave a little room for growing. I'm thinking 42 to 48 inches in length.
Can anybody give me some rough width and thickness numbers. How bout the riser length?
Everything I've read is mostly for heavier bows using 1x2 inch read oak.
Thanks, Ron
I don't have an answer for sure, but I am in the process of making one for my son curently. I started with a 4" handle and made the length like 52". I started at the dimensions from the other articles and am doing it very slowly from that. Due to the shorter length, it is much stiffer than a longer one would be. I can let you know when I get there, but I am still a while from getting anywhere close.

Elk ninja had a buildalong on here that I have used for numerous redoak bows that were forty-eight inches in length. I am starting one this weekend using half inch thick board and whittling it down to a draw weight more suitable for a strong nine year old but the quarter inch that he uses would be super fine for your kidlets.
