Title: Simmons Intercepter any good???
Post by: J.Nordwell on March 29, 2007, 09:19:00 PM
I'm thinking of trying a new BH. Someone told me about the simmons type. Are they any good? Looking for a good one for deer and elk. Thanks  :archer:

If it's good enough for JC to use, then I'd use 'em...

Byron liked the design so much that for a while he sold a Signature version that was exactly like the Interceptor only about an 1/8" narrower.

I've taken more game with the 190 gr. Interceptor than with any other head.

I shot the 160 gn interceptor for the last couple
of years and can tell you it really opens up a
an exit wound....Last deer I shot looked like he
has been hit with a meat cleaver......bleed out
completely in 20 yrds....A little hard to sharpen
but a good head......allen

Bout choked on that one Chris, thanks for the compliment, but certainly undeserved. I asked Charlie about them when I first started looking at em and he said "Yep, good head...helluva hole." So really it should be "If it's good enough for Charlie Lamb to recommend, then I'd use em"

I have become a fan of them in my own right however after killing a few things with them. They've proven not only to create massive blood trails but to be durable in my opinion for such a long, unsupported piece of steel out front. Easy to sharpen with Simmons $7 wheelie sharpener (as is everything else I might add), makes them a great choice for many applications.
