The one in the middle looks like a tigercat. I have one similar made in 1967.
At the top is a Kodiak Magnum
Serial# 22B109
52" 45#
"Display" is stamped into the riser over that inscription
it has green glass back and belly and cracks running with the limbs both limbs belly and back silver medallion
in the middle
Bearcat
EXP
10CF461
66" 35#
white glass belly and back
bow is in near perfect condition
no medallion
bottom bow..(probably the prettiest bear bow I have ever seen..in perfect condition)
Polar
EXP
18CF467
66" 39#
white glass belly and back
Gold medallion
inlaid sight with pin and ring site pin
My uneducated guess -- A kmag, grizzly and a tamerlane...they are unusual because you have them and they have glass ;)
LOL bjk...I hav LOTS of glass bows. Just don't shoot them.
What is most unusal to me and something I have never seen before is the "display" stamped into the Kmag
and the "EXP" written before the serial number which are unlike any Bear serial numbers I have seen either (at least that I remember)
I also got a hardcase arrow box with several dozen arrows, stringers, Bear string wax, a side quiver, 2 Kolpin bow cases. Most of the accessories are old and mildewy ((been stored in a basement since the 60's) and the arrow box itself is trash and maybe the bow cases...they stink
But the bows are pristine
Beautiful lQQking bows..
Estate Sale????
No Kingstaken, a friend of my older sister was cleaning out her basement. She and her husband bought these bows when they got engaged around 1960, shot them for 2 weeks, and put them up.
She was going to take them to the Salvation Army when my sister said "I think my brother would want those", so she gave them to me.
I Have First Dibs On The Middle One!!!... ...Hey Mickey!...Wanna be my hero this week?...Anyone that is a bow magnet can be my hero for a week or so...(But not bjk)...
You self bow guys are pretty cool in my book!
... mike ... ;) ...
EXP stands for experimental. Riser might be longer or some other difference. Very good find Mickey.
Looks like you hit the Bear Bow lottery right there Ferret Very Nice!
What a great gift...I am thrilled they went to someone that can really appreciate them!
Mickey, the Kodiak Magnum is a 1961 with bubinga riser and green glass limbs; the first year of manufacture of the K.Mag.
Dang George ya got me by 3 minutes....yup a 61 one of them Bears that commands a premium.
All three are sweet.
Micky do ya know what ya got buddy???? great value for sure!!! congrats!!!!Marco#78
nice find! Your stock just went up. If she truly gave them to you, I'd send her flowers. :)
Man, I gotta get me a better sister!
Cool catch.
Had to go to a Home Owners Assoc meetting for the neighborhood tonight...what a drag.
Thanks GDS a 61 KMag huh. Is it normal for the lengthways cracks in the glass? I've seen the across the limbs marks before but nothing like this.
I knew it was a good find but had no idea these were this good. I'm kinda giddy.
Wonder if my son will know what they are worth when I hand them down to him LOL
I took a shot of an EXP kodiak for a Bear calendar that I plan to print this year. It looks alot like the top bow, with green glass that you can see a weave pattern in.

Awwww dag gone! I had two of three guesses right.
I had the KMag and the Bearcat right. I would have bet $$ (if I had any) that the last one was a Tamerlane.
That Polar has got to be worth at least $35.00 but I'd be happy to give you $40.00 for it. (insert wink here)
Could I check your toilet before you flush next time? (dripping sarcasm goes here)

Very normal for 1961 "Grayling green" limbs.
Thanks Dan. Is it shootable like that? (not that i will but just wondering)
Micky I think I read once the display models were defective not shootable and sent to dealers for display only. This was years ago before product liability was a big thing.Kip
That makes sense Kip. Thanks
Riser wood on the 61's wasn't fully dried and caused the glass to stress crack as it dried.. many were sent back for repair and ended up being painted to cover the cracks. Then they where star stamped and or the ser number removed to indicate they were no longer under warranty. Not sure if the Display where unshootable or if they where just bows that had been returned and the original owner wanted something else and were unsellable.. 63 Dog legs Type1's had holes drilled in them and then marked "Display"
I have a 61 Kodiak that is full of stress cracks, star stamped and no ser, number but it shoots great.
If the KM passes visual inspection, I would shoot it
That KMAG is worth some COIN mick. the other two are worth a bit also. But the Kmag IMHO is the top $$$$$. If it was say 50# and up you would be in for a big surprise on the E sight.<><
A Kodiak Mag that is almost identical to Mickey's- has the star stamp, serial number still on, but doesn't have the glass overlays on the back of the Riser- can you fellas put a year on this bow? Would the serial number be helpful?
Are the cracks in the glass repairable?
Thanks for help and information,
Steve
oh man that tamerlane is sweet!!!!
sight looks likes in purdy good condition, does it have an aperature?
Mickey,
"Earl E" is the wiz, but I shoot mine and it looks FAR worse than yours.
I'm looking for a Kodiak in the same shape or better to fill out my birth year set. Of course like your K Mag, 61 Kodiaks are highly sought after and I'm cheap so it may take a while.
Beautiful bows Mickey and quite a find! I have an old 1962 Ben Pearson Javalina that has vertical stress cracks on the belly and back of the limbs and it shoots just fine. I got it a couple of years ago and shoot it often; the stress cracks in the glass do not seem to have gotten any worse with frequent shooting, but I do keep an eye on them. I've often wondered if stripping the original finish and applying an epoxy type finish would help, although in your case I'd leave well enough alone. Ya probably want to keep her as original as possible due to the collector value. If you plan on shooting her much and don't like looking at the cracks, how about skins? I'll bet someone could show you how to do that. LOL.
Congratulations on the windfall.
Chuck
I'll take some interesting pics of the "details and post them up. Hang on.

Mickey you've got to work on your archery collection. Your walls are looking pretty bare.
Wow Mick, nice collection!
LOL Luke it's a freakin museum my kids are going to have to deal with when I kick over
hey mick, nice score and I too like the polar w/the built in site. cool-beans!!!
Brian that Polar is by far the prettiest Bear bow (contrasting colors) that I have ever seen. It is stunning. Bet if they had made a Kodiak Magnum or Hunter, or a custom Kodiak Takedown in those colors it would have been awesome.
Course I'm kinda partial to that yellow color for a bow :bigsmyl:
They certainly did a nice job on those old Polars, I have a Lady Polar with the zebrawood sight window. Real pretty! you oughta shoot that rascal, but I guess you are afraid that it might lead you to your dark side... glass! :scared:
Killdeer
geeeze..... show off.
:)
Here is a KM that a buddy gave me that he found in his dads basement. 52" 45@28 I think its a 1977 year bow (http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p261/Hatchetjackdog/img_0024.jpg)

Hatchet Jack Not sure of the age but it is sure older than a 1977.Looks like late 60's maybe 71.Nice bow.Kip
If that serial number starts with a "7", it's a 67'. Looks like the coin is flush. The 77's are green, I think.
