I started an arm guard project today. It is about the only piece of gear that still need to make. I used a piece of 5 Oz. tooling leather because it can be stamped easily.

In order to do the tooling, I needed to wet the leather.

I used some standard leather tools but I had to make the deer's foot and the arrowhead stamp. I used a bolt and a pin to make them

The tooling part is done and I still need to make the leather backing and the antler buttons.

For the arrow shaft, I use a short length of band saw blade.

Alright! I work for a furniture manufacturer and just got some nice scraps of leather in olive green and a couple of shades of brown. I've been meaning to ask someone for a arm guard build-along. Nice work. Patiently waiting for more....

With the leather completely dry, I added some edge kote to the cut end of the arm guard. This will water proof and seal the edge and keep it from swelling and getting fuzzy over time.

Next I made the antler buttons by cutting them with a hack saw. and then drilling holes for lacing.

Next I made a cardboard template for the soft leather backing and cut the backing out of a very soft glove leather.

The next step is stitching and sewing the buttons on.

I stitched the two pieces of leather together using a very strong upholstery thread. I used a fork punch to equally space the holes.

Next I attached the deer antler buttons and applied two coats of Super Sheen to waterproof the leather and give it a nice shine

I cut a leather thong to lace it up.
All finished.

Where does one AQUIRE all of these Cool Leather Working Stamps, I see You have 2 HomeMade(?) and it Looks GREAT!! Like the Fork Punch for "Even Hole Spacing to Stitch Into"? I have Looked all over this 1 Horse Town, I have NO Tandy within Several Hours Drive, anyway I go.
