I could use some help with an arrow clearance problem. It appears I have forgotten all I thought I knew about tuning this afternoon. :help:
I shoot a 60" 59#@27" Navajo Caddo r/d longbow. I'm shooting 2018 Legacy shafts at 28 1/2" Fletched with inserts and arrow wraps they are 400 gr. I thought I had them shooting well with 150 heads but am getting wear on the outside edge of the material on the shelf and some rub marks on the bottom of the arrow wraps. I have tried moving the nock point from a 1/4" above square to 5/8" above square (The higher seems better). I have tried 125 and 175 grain points to change spine. I am braced at 6 3/4" which is right in the 6 1/2 - 7" range recommended.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I think that your 2018's may be a little stiff. If you have one 30" long, give it a try. If you have any 2016's, give one of them a try at 28 1/2-29". Hap
Y aalos could be plucking the string on release. I do not on occasion and it will create that wear. I would not think they are too stiff though, as I shot a Roy hall Cherokee at only 50#s and it liked spine around 65#s. Shawn
You could try putting a little bump under the riser material like a peice of leather shoe string
had the same problem on one of my L/Bs and that worked,Todd
The pressure point under the rest could help. I don't usually worry too much on shelf material wear unless it affects arrow flight.
Don't be afraid to try even higher on the nock point maybe 3/4 inch.

My bet is that the nock point might still be too low. Like macbow said, don't be afraid to move it higher. You can always move it back down if it doesn't help.
I agree that if the arrow shot well in the past, the knock is still low. Bare shaft test the arrows that will tell you right away if you have the right arrow. The one thing to remember with a bare shaft test is that a high nock flight can indicate a low nock if you are not carefull. Just a walk in the park!
A 28 1/2 in. 2018 fletchd w/wraps and 150 gr. point should weigh more like 500 gr. or so Try going above your normal brace a little and sounds like a low nock also.

If I remember right, you shoot three under? Moving the nock up sounds right then. I could be wrong, but I always thought that three under means a higher nock point then usual. The suggestion about putting a little bump in the rest just above where your hand contacts the handle might also cure the problem.
