Started a bow blank from Mike at Dryad Bows. First time I have ever tried this. The video is great, but I don't trust my "eye" for detail sometimes. Please offer any advice that you deem needed. I promise you it is wanted and appreciated. :confused:

Bow at rest at 3 inch brace. Since picture I have gone to a 5 inch brace and plan to go to 6 inch brace soon. :D

Bow pulled to 22 inches on tree. The limb on your right i think needs to bend more. The limb on the left is bending especially in the middle thirded of limb. What do you think. Bow is at 45# @ 25 inches. Advice needed please. :bigsmyl:
It looks to me like the right limb is stiff out towards the middle and left limb is stiff towards the riser. But i have never built a bow before, so this is a nearly worthless opinion, its just what i see...
I agree with Simms142. Outer third of left limb also a little stiff.
Shave only a little before checking again. Don't want to lose any more weight than you must.
On second look, I think both limbs are OK in the third near the fades.

Which is the upper and which is the lower limbs.If the right is the lower limb,then I would say you are good to go.
What are the final weight and draw that you are aiming for?
work from midlimb out on the right limb.
I agree with John. It also looks like you might be close to a hinge on your left limb. I wouldn't work on it anymore until I got the right limb bending evenly and matched to the left limb. JMHO

Bow right now is 46# @ 26" hope to come in at close to 50# @ 28" looks close right now.

Left and right are hinging mid-limb - don't touch those areas anymore. Need to take wood off everywhere else. I also don't recommend taking it to full-draw until the problem is corrected.

What Mickey said, I'd work mostly on the tip area even though the handle is a bit stiff. The tips will move more and not give up as much weight as the handle will. It's close and just needs a little TLC.

I agree with the above. I'd try to get that near handle wood moving. Get rid of the tillering stick when you are drawing it this far. It will cut down on the set. I'm guessing you have some pretty decent set there in the midlimbs, huh?
I've finish out around 46#@28". I don't want to go below 45# if at all possible. Have talked to Mike and he agrees that I should call it finished right there. Both limbs are bending about the same. There might could have been a little more bend near the fades, but I don't think it would make much differents in the bows preformance. Have shoot about 300 arrows through the bow now and I am trying to put a finish on it but the cold weather has made it impossible to work on it lately. First picture is at full draw and the second picture is with the left limb flipped over on top of the right limb to show how close they are bending together. What do you guys think.

Will post new pictures when I get finish on the bow. This was a great adventure for me to build this blank into a shooting bow. I was afraid I had lost it once to a pretty bad hinge but with help from Mike, ferret, tmccall and others we managed to work though it. It seem to shoot great and pretty fast. Hope to get to use it some this turkey season.
Good job T-Mac. Quite satisfying when you get one tillered out, bending evenly and you've made weight.
Like John says a tiller tree will aLLOW YOU TO WATCH THE LIMBS WORKING AND MAKE IT EASIER TO EXCERCISE THE WOOD AS YOU GO. yOU WILL EVENTUALLY LEARN TO SPOT HINGES AND STIFF SPOTS "ON THE FLY"
so to speak without stressing the limbs.

Nice job!! Looking good for sure. Yep we could have done a little better out of the fades but heck it's your first and it's a dang good shooter. Bring it to the pig hunt and we'll take a close look at it.
