Our new server has been installed and tested, so Trad Gang's cyber camp is gettin' ready to pack up and move to our new, bigger 'n' better "hunting ground" on Friday, March 23rd, 2007. :wavey:

Man 24 hours without Trad Gang. That's just not right! But it will be worth it.
If i am one of the ones who cannot access Trad Gang for twenty-four hours, I WILL take it personally. :readit:
Killdeer :saywhat:
"MAYBE you might not be able to access Trad Gang for as much as 24 hours"
For most folks, access SHOULD be immediate.
It all basically depends on two things - when you last accessed Trad Gang, and when the network routers that path you to Trad Gang get cache flushed.
Again, I apologize if this hardware migration keeps you from accessing Trad Gang for ANY length of time. We have a new server, in a new location, and that necessitated a new IP address. Having a new server IP address is the reason for any delay in accessing Trad Gang.
Thanx for yer understanding,
Rob.
Good luck Rob. Hope things go that smoothly.
Let's see now...What am I gonna do "IF" I can't get into Trad Gang for (maybe) 24 hours...MMmmmm...Watch T.V.?...No Way!...Read A Book?...Talk on the phone?...Chase my wife around the house?...I GOT IT!!!...Shoot My Bow!!!
Thanks Robert!...Dig your avatar too!

Looking and acting good so far!!!!!.

I noticed that my dial up was taking about three times as long as it normally does this morning. Other than that, everything's fine.
Thanks guys!
Danny
It is working fine for me this morning. Thanks for all you guys do to make this a great site.
Glenn
The forum home link at the top of the page isn't working for me. Other than that everything seems to be going well.
I was thinking you should have let people know the new server ip address and they could have just put that in their broswer so they didn't have to wait 24 hours to get back on. Also you could put the new IP on the old server page you routed folks to so they would know to just type in the new IP address rather than www.tradgang.com. (http://www.tradgang.com.)
No, we don't want to give out the new server's IP address - that will only frustrate Trad Gangers who can't get in more because although it will get them to the front door of the Trad Gang website, it won't let them past it.
This is because, like all good applications, we use alpha addresses for all page links.
The reason for doing this is to allow the software to migrate to new IP addresses without having to change many thousands of embedded old IP addresses within the forum pages - that would be a nightmare to accomplish, if not near impossible.
Nope, no easy way to change over to a brandy new server without encountering some speed bumps. And since we have Trad Gangers accessing the site from every continent of the globe, there are thousands of network routers that need updating of the new IP and alpha site address.
In any event, it should all be a moot point in a day or so, and then we can begin concentrating on the next change - new forum software. Now THAT will be a REAL challenge that will make the server move seem like child's play!
Rob.
Ouch - and I thought I was daring when I upgraded to XP a month or so ago - LOL - and I "don't-even" like Roller Coasters!
This new server sure is faster and smoother, at any rate.
Thanks Rob and Terry, I think we can all handle the speeds bumps pretty easily.........
David
Yup great job guys!! I just posted on the other thread. I have a new computer and I am at warp speed between the new server and my new computer. I never lost anything except when it was down during the changeover!! Very nice folks, we all appreciate what you guys do here, I actually would be lost without this site, I have made some great friends here and a lot of them I have never even met in person!!! Thanks!! Shawnw
Is everyone back problem free?
Good for me so far.
