Been to Guam a couple times on Navy Detachments and hunted Hawaii which is real similiar in terrain but no snakes.
Stick a big one for a retired Navy Chief.
SO much greenery. Thanks for sharing Danny.
Wow, not much for shooting lanes in that stuff is there? Bet you don't get to far from the road. Beautiful plants though!
awesome danny real nice
Is that in Dallas. Cuz that looks like the jungle. Cool pics. I'm about an hour south of you and my terrain don't look anything like that. Awesome. Justin
Actualy Whip, where I hunt the most there are no roads. Out my back door and into the jungle which goes for miles. I have been over most of it. Just gotta go slow and watch your footing. My wife's cousins own most of the property and let me hunt when I want. And nope ya gotta pick you shots but where I sit up I try and have a couple of lanes out to bout 10/15 yards. Cannot shoot much further than that anywhere here, too thick.
Danny
LOL Justin, I live on Guam, it is jungle. My twin brother Nakohe lives in Dallas.
Danny
Oh, for some reason or another I thought you was from dallas. Sorry.
John "Lucky Man". How ya doin Shipmate, I am a retired Navy Chief also.
Danny
What part of the island? I spent 15 months at Anderson in my other life. We used to boonie stomp, looking for hold-outs, and coconut crabs. There was a few piggies on the island.
Great pics Danny, beautiful country.
Beautiful photos Danny. Thanks for sharing. It's still gray and bleak here in northern Illinois. Stickbows unite all of us one way or the other.
John
Isn't that the place that's supposed to be covered up with snakes? Those areas you posted pics of sure look snakey to me....
Nice pics though.
Nala
No, we are not covered up in snakes. There is an introduced snake here, the Philippine brown tree snake which has decimated the native bird population, but you hardly ever see one. I have never seen one in the jungle. Killed a total of 3 around the house since 1989.
Danny
Great pictures Danny. Your jungle is thicker than what I deal with. Is it very wet?
Jerry
Hey Jerry,
Normally it is pretty wet, but right now we are in a bit of a dry spell. Used to be ya could go in and you would find clearings and such but since the last big storm blew the tops off of most of the big trees the under growth has sprung up and in places ya just cannot get through.
Danny
Wow, really cool.Looks like there might be a T-Rex or 2 lurkin about those parts.Think a 2 blade or 3 would do the job?
thanks for posting Danny, neat place to hunt. what about them frogs, are the legs good eat'n?
Sent you a PM Danny.
LOL, Rob, would not know cause they are toads and semi toxic. I would not even try to eat them even if they werent toxic, ugly thangs.
Danny
Danny,
Do you ever hunt the sombar deer in Guam?
Doug
Douglas,
I do hunt Sambar deer. Very tough hunt and I have not connected in quite a while.
Danny
Good stuff Danny
Great pics thanks for sharing.
ttt for Charlie Lamb
Danny...thanks for the thread w/pics. Sorry it took so long to respond. First I was out of town for a long time and then when I got home my dang computer wouldn't work. Sheesh!!!
That's some pretty thick stuff you hunt. Bet it gets a little frustrating at times.... you do seem to make the best of it though.
Cool country Danny. Seems to me that I read a while back that Guam's bird populations were being wiped out by a brown snakes, apparently they had hitched a ride from Australia. Any truth to that?
You are welcome Charlie. Yeah it is very thick in most places.
guzzi, the brown tree snake came from the Philippines. Yes it has decimated a bunch of the native bird population. There is an ongoing trapping control that seems to be working. I have been here since 1989, never seen one in the jungle, killed a total of three around the house in all that time.
