Title: Marriah Chinook Longbow
Post by: Deadsmple on March 21, 2007, 06:30:00 PM
Hoping anyone here has had some experience with this bow. I'm seriously considering it for my next purchase but would like to hear some opinions first. My current goto longbow is a Robertson Mystical built back in 1980. I'm hoping to find a r/d longbow with similar or better shooting characteristics as the Mystical. Anyone?

Are you sure Ric is still making bows?

At one time Ric had quit making bows.  But his web site is still there.  I have a 68" 62# @28" chinook.  In fact if you look at his web site you will see my chinook, at least the middle of it.   I also have several other longbows.  But I just keep coming back to it as my main bow.  Smooth draw and it shoots where you point it.  A few years ago Ric's bows were all the rage on the internet.  The joke was that you needed to order it with the electronic accuracy package installed in the riser since no bow could be that accurate without help.  Bows are very individual, but I think you will not be disappointed.

I spoke with Ric a couple of weeks ago and he has gotten back into making his wonderful bows, albeit not as fast as before. I would give him a call and talk to him about it. Around 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. his time is a good time to catch him.

Thanks for the input guys. I was recently at his website and just fell in love with that bow. It appears he is still making bows.

Snakeeater, thanks for the heads up I better get on the phone and make sure it's possible to order a bow from him at this point.

Thanks again. Vaughn

Great bow. I loved mine but alas, I was bitten by the wooden bow bug.

I've shot three chinooks of my friends. They all are fabulous bows. Ric is a class act in every respect. If he is still making bows get one while you can.

I don't have a longbow, but Ric did make me a recurve last year. They really are a labor of love now for him. He's not in the production business and really puts time into the few he does make. He went crazy on mine, it is drop dead gorgeous.

I had a Chinook and was crazy enough to sell it during one of my trading fests  :knothead:  .
I currently have a Thermal and Ric is making another one for me that should be ready in a couple of months.  He is a class guy who builds a fabulous bow.
