Lately, with the wave of new people coming to Trad Gang, I feel there needs to be a review of what Trad Gang is about.........
Off topic threads can be one of a kind, or fit into a category. Here's a list of categories that are off topic for Trad Gang that have been problematic for a few months now......
E-B-A-Y/Auction sites/Sales alerts from non Trad Companies.
No target/olympic/field archery topics cept 3-D
Solicitations/Raffles/Auctions.
Religious posts.
No non bowhunting related pics.
No links to other message boards.
No canned hunt topics period.
Personal Contact threads.(use search feature and email)
Scam alerts.
Throwing Hawks/Throwing knives, non hunting knives
Bloggs/Myspace/YouTube non-bowhunting.
Non Bowhunting TV/Movie threads.
Not Trad Bowhunting equipment (compounds, crossbows, mech heads, lazer sites, guns, etc...or even pics)
No fishing threads.
No pics of road kills, or any other weapon kills, or any type of kills that are not done so with trad bows.
No animals killing animals clips, or any other non hunting clips.
Again, those categories above are off topic, and will always be off topic unless we approve a specific thread for a needy reason. Please help us help you by keeping the site on topic...Trad Bowhunting.
Trad Gang is a special place, and to keep it a special place it takes work from everyone, including the members. Try and understand that when your post is pulled, it is NOT personal, we are only trying to be consistent and fair as we can for the site's sake. No need to get bent out of shape, no need to go bizerk or explode.
Think you are alone?....Think we play favorites?..here's a few folks that have had their posts edited or pulled....
Ron LaClair, Dean Torges, Gene Wensel, Barry Wensel, Biggie Hoffman, Charlie Lamb, Curtis Kellar, and Don Thomas just to name a few....So, if you've had a post removed or edited, your in good company.
I've pulled my own post as well as had mods pull mine.
Here'a a little something I wrote about 3 years ago on a thread titles 'Just what's Trad Gang about?'....Maybe it will help some understand Trad Gang a little more....
Trad Gang is obviously about bowhunting the traditional way. But there has been much more revealed during its maiden year.
We are a representative of the true atmosphere of a real hunting campfire.
We share our experiences, our joys, and disappointments.
We share our knowledge and hard knocks.
We learn and improve. We give and receive.
We build each other up, and strive to raise the bar for others as well as ourselves.
We look in awe at the accomplishments of the simple weapon of our choice, and the experiences we witness and the ones we execute.
We strive to be better bowhunters, improving our skills and accuracy. We encourage others in their quest. As a reward, we improve and are encouraged within.
We share the success of others, and they with us. We tell people what they can achieve, not what they can't. We are positive, not negative. We debate and disagree in a gentlemanly way, and as a result we construct, not demolish.
We hold the past in reverence, and look to the future in perseverance, all the while relishing the present.
We are a noble representation of the sport.
Thank you Trad Gang members for your contributions and efforts that inspired the words above.
Terry Green
Thanks Terry. I appreciate what you and the other moderators do to keep the site focused.
Thank you Terry.
Your firm yet tactful explanation of what Trad Gang is about will surely help the site continue to be what we have come to love.
Well stated and your timeing could not have been better. Those reminders are things all of us can apply during our time spent on Trad Gang.
Jake

Terry you are much appreciated!
We share the success of others, and they with us. We tell people what they can achieve, not what they can't. We are positive, not negative. We debate and disagree in a gentlemanly way, and as a result we construct, not demolish
That is why I visit this site vs any other.
Thank You
Jack
Terry,
Thank you and the other moderators for what you do to keep us focused. I have been quilty of getting overzealous religously in posts and I forgot that I wasn't supposed to. My appologies to eveyone. I did not mean to offend. I just love
God. I will stay focused on what this site is about. I love trad shooting and bowhunting and this site is wonderful. I have learned so much here and hope to learn and share more for many years to come. Thanks
Donald
This is EXACTLY what makes this such a fantastic place. Thanks Terry.
Terry, Are the names listed in order of violations  ....I hope not :o :o :(
:biglaugh:
Ron,
I think it's in order of notoriety.
Terry, you are absolutely right. I will endeavor to obstain from being drawn in again.
Good thread Terry. I think we really do need to focus a little more. I'm guilty of drifting off into non-trad land on here.
This has got to be like a full-time job just keeping track of 12000+ members posts.
Jeff
I've had a couple posts pulled before. Don't always agree 100% but in hindsight it is very important for the health of this websight.
tradgang is my number 1 websight visited and I really appreciate the continuity and level of respect demanded here.
thanks guys
I couldn't agree more with you Terry ! I have only been on this site less than a year. Thanks for a great site. Formerbutcher
There is something spiritual in the flight of an arrow, but some posts do get way off topic. BOW HUNTING WITH TRAD GEAR. When people ask what I do, I tell them I am a bowhunter. Sure, I have a spiritual life, a job, family, political viewpoint, etc., but I bowhunt and that is why Tradgang is at the top of my "favorites" list. Keep up the good work Terry and mods.
It must be size-related, Ron...oh wait, Biggie is behind you so that can't be it! :bigsmyl: :biglaugh:
I know I've had some killed...but he didn't even mention me so should I be offended?
Nah Ron....no particular order. We just get acussed of playing favorites from time to time, and that's just not the case.
OK.....and Ray Hammond. :D
Anyone else want their name added he he!!!
Remember when I said we were 'positive not negative'?
Here's a post by Rob that was read negative by a member just today....

Rob. [/b]
I got an email from a member that felt Rob was using police entrapment tactics to get the thread pulled......he obviously read the post negative.
If you read it positive, then you can see that Rob is asking so the thread can stay. If not, then Rob had to pull it to be fair to all the other members that had throwing hawk threads pulled. Being fair is a positive as well.
Any post you see by a moderator, or email you receive can have two tones....all depends on how you want to read it. If you read it in a positive tone I think things are understood much easier.....as we all know the typed word is often miss-read. That's why a lot of the times I email people my phone number.
Well said Terry. Appreciate what you and the other moderators do for us. It's certainly not an easy job. Thanks.
Way to go guys :0) Thanks for all that you do , this is the best site . Thanks again Drew
I Agree, Well Said Terry!! This Really IS a Special Place, and its Growing FAST!! As with Anything, "Growing Pains" are Part of It as Well.
You wont Meet a Nicer, Generous, or Just Plain DECENT FOLK ANYWHERE like the Family of Trad-Gang!
Moderators have their Plates Overfilled with New People, Projects, and the Occassional Scuffle. My Regards to ALL The Mods.
Thank YOU Terry for Gently Setting Us ALL on the "Correct Path" and the "Mission Statement of Trad-Gang", and I am sure Everyone Will Follow Your Lead. Thank You ALL for making my Favorite Saying Ring True: ONLY on TRADGANG!!! :archer: :goldtooth:
Thats why bridles have reins...to keep the horse from running away! Keep us reined in Terry. Good job.
I agree what Shakes said! This is the only place I spend an hour a day on the puter for the last four years. Great job guys!! Thanks Terry!!
Denny
If I may say the folks on this site are top notch. The mod's do a fine job at running this site. :readit: thats almost a challenge to get a post pulled. It's most likely the ONLY way I'll ever get put into the same classification as those outstanding gentlemen. :wavey: :notworthy: :campfire: :biglaugh:
P.S.
If ya want to talk about throwing hawks, camoflage it into a hatchet bow build-a-long thread. ;)
I believe the very first thread I started was pulled. But we got past that now didn't we Terry and Rob? ROTFL
It's true, it can happen to anyone so don't take it personal.
Terry and all mods do a great job, glad it's them and not me for sure!! Thanks to all that make this site possible. Including everyone that post and give all that great advice and encouragement for free. Thanks!!!!! :clapper: :clapper:
Thanks, Terry....I would prefer the 'kid glove' approach, if/when I'm guilty. :archer:
If you EVER pull another thread of mine...I'm comin up there!
I for one appreciate this site very much and I understand the "limits" we must abide by. That's what makes this site, a top all others !
I now the mods. have there hands full, I run an 18th century web page and message board, I know how it can get at times.
I thank all the members that started this site, and the new members that keep it going, it's clean, entertaining and very a knowledgable site.
I screwed up right off the bat with a 4 bow sale, with no prices, cause I did'nt take the time to read everything. I then proceeded to "read" the rules of engagement, LOL !!
I love it here, I'm a life long member now, you'll never get rid of me.
Thanks to all involved, you have my gratitude !
Jerald
Just to show we all can be as "infamous" as any one else on "that" list ;) , especially if you happen to be a garroulous ol' critter like me. The first time I got stepped on (gently) was by one of my heros (Mickey Lotz)- I still like the "little scutter". That wasn't the last time(s) either  - and I try to do right - I just get carried away with enthusiasm from time to time, yammering about one thing or another. Sorry 'bout that.
Y'all do good (as can be expected - :D )
THE REASON I JOINED!!!!
Thanks for existing.
Now see, the trouble is I would like to ask fflintlock his webpage address, but that would be off topic wouldn't it?
So PM him and the problem is solved.
Yep...that's what emails are for.
I'd like to thank everyone ......the last 5 days have been a breeze.......cept for the server change over. There have been very few off topic posts.
We really appreciate it!!!!
Please continue as we work on other problems and projects.
Thanks guys.....
when I want to see someones web page I click on the little house thing :bigsmyl:
Never mind, it works now !
Terry thanks for introducing all these fine folks to me. What a great bunch of guys and gals. I don't think theres a thing anyone of them would'nt do for me or you.
And a thank you to the moderators, for making and keeping this a great site. I've crossed the line a couple times unintentional. And had it pulled, my mistake and only mine. So if you do have anything pulled. Its usually always your fault as you have crossed a line. Thats not be meant negitive, just truthful. And a positive!
Brent
Time for another review!!!
Thanks Terry for the reminder,so easy to take the wrong route.
Serge
Thanks again Terry and all who make "TradGang" part of my life...
Dude from the Desert........
AWFUL LOT OF NEW MEMBERS REAL QUICK GOTTA BE A HASSLE,BUT THEY WILL LEARN
Thanks for all your work Terry. Every once in a while the brain need some updates, especially when you get to be my age....and oh my gosh Burnies!!
:bigsmyl: You guys do a great job and it makes this site #1
 :clapper: Thanks all.....Chort
TTT :goldtooth:
I feel honored. I had a couple threads pulled. I can hang my name with the big boys.
Sometimes it seems kinda silly why some threads get pulled but you gotta respect Terry and the fellas for what they do. They do keep things on target on this site. :notworthy:

Hey........that's a great way to phrase it...I usually email folks,...'to keep the site focused'...or 'keep the site on course'.
I think I'll use 'on target' from now on...Thanks!
BTW....if people only knew how fast this forum could get out of hand, or, if they spent a few months as a moderator....they would know and understand a LOT more. Its work...and kind of a 'tuff love' to pull threads....but things can snowball pretty dang fast if you aren't on top of it. And, the amount of people that spam and 'work the board' advertising,...and the slick ways they try and go about it. We catch most of that REAL quick.
Thanks for understanding guys......means a lot, more than you know.
I have had a post pulled. I guess I am in good company. Wow, never thought there would be anything that I had in common with those guys.
This site is a rarity on the web Thanks Terry
If we didn't have such dedicated moderators and meaningful guidelines, we would have nothing but chaos. Thanks Terry and everyone else who contributes to keeping Trad Gang the best traditional archery/hunting site on the net!
ttt
Thanks again guys......and thanks for the emails of support, and the defense of us 'elsewhere'. :notworthy:
Terry, You, Rob & all the Mod's are doing a great job here. I had a post or 2 edited & 1 that I know of removed for going off topic, but I never felt bad about it. Now seeing the names of others that you posted puts me in a better place, knowing I'm in the same book as them.
TradGang is my WWWHome and everyone here is like Family. Please Keep Up the great work.
I can say one thing that means more than anything else to me about Tradgang - my children are welcome to read along. What other web-site can you say that about? I'm thankful that as my children are getting to an age to participate in archery that there is a place where we all can get information in a responsible manner. It does make you all feel like family and I thank you.
Sometimes I'm the bratty brother and thanks for pulling that too. Just like a kid I know when I'm wrong, even when I won't admit it! - Danny
What about these guys (like you and me) that make double posts and burn up space :D can't we do something about them and their stumble fingers??? .)
Terry, we need a place to post pics/stories of nontrad but St. Jude's related...like stuff from the auction. Hopin' for some fine pics soon after a memorable fishing trip, ya know.
Always have felt since the gitgo that this place was run dead nuts to it's founder's wishes. As it should be, and I'm sure as it always will be. It always starts with rule #1: Respect
God Bless.
Thunder.....if I'm not mistaken, there was a fishing trip given away last year, and we allowed them to post about it....St Judes kinda gets a free pass, non-trad items are donated, and posting about them is OK......cause its for the kids.
Just like the thread 'What did ya get from the Auction'?....and people posted pics of all sorts of non bowhunting stuff they won...no reason someone can't post about the fish they caught.
und dont metion zee var! :biglaugh:
ok cool.....we'll see if we can get some great pics then. I'm really excited about this trip....got a fantastic father/son team comin' on board this weekend.
God Bless.
Are knife threads still allowed? Those are my favorite!
well said terry
Oh, sure, Terry - pull the Double post and make me look like my mind is "wandering" again ...... thanks a lot! :biglaugh:
TTT
Thought I'd bring this back up due to all the festivities today. :)
This needs another TRIP THROUGH
Also remember guys we have classifieds for trading and ads. Pow Wow is not the place for "Want to trade" threads.
Thanks Terry et al. I for one need to lighten up a bit. Happy Holidays

..."not all who wander are lost"...just not staying focused! lol I can relate to that. Thanks for pulling in the reigns on us. I too have been an offender when talking about my love of God. Never meant to offend...but probably did. Hope the scripture verse in with my posting is ok...?
Terry -- First, it's your website and you have the absolute right to set the rules. Second -- I appreciate your keen ear and firm hand... that is what had kept TG from going the way of The (Fill in the Blank). Third, the one (and I believe only) time I had a post pulled, I deserved it. But... no fishing?? I love my fly rods as much as my bows and i know a number of other folks here do too. I hope I won't get blunted for mentioning the great fishing I encounter sometimes on my travels! Cheers,Don
Don,...there are several posts about hunts were people fished, and the fish pics were shown in the body of the hunting thread....but ya can't start a fishing thread as a topic.
Howzat? ;)
Had a friend of mine visit this site soon after joining because he just refused to believe what I had told him about the way things were here. He commented after just one visit "Where were the flames, what about the drama, why arent people arguing and raising hobb when others dont agree with them? Its like this site doesnt even belong on the web its too constructive!!"
Hard to imagine how difficult it must be sometimes to take the road less traveled like the mods here at TradGang have done. Just my humble opinion here but I think its worth it, hats off to ya Gents!
Getting on the Trad Gang site, is like sitting down on your favorite sofa watching Robin Hood (with Errol Flynn).
thanks terry you da man!!! where would we be with out you and this awesome site :clapper: :clapper:
I had my threads pulled before, and have the up most respect for the moderators, No hard feelings here guys, and thanks for a great site!!
Thanks Terry for all you and the other moderators do in support of TradGang...... your comments are appreciated. I guess this is why I spend many hours on this site.
Terry and moderators  I am a fairly new member to tradgang and it is the best. Due to all your hard work and the quality of the members. I really enjoy the threads from the old timers to the young uns. I have never seen so much knowledge in one place. I also spend a lot of time here. Keep up the great work.
All things in moderation and all things as moderated therefore the moderators...or something like that. I enjoy this site and appreciate the courtesy, civility and respect that are evident here. Thanks for setting and keeping a high standard.

Terry, I hope that you "ttt'ed" this thread for your own good after recently starting a thread asking "what people knew" about some giant hog that wasn't reported to have been taken with traditional equipment. Hypocrisy is an ugly habit.
Tyler....Guess you didn't read the post I started very well. I was looking for the thread on this site that already had the pic. I did not start a new thread about the hog. It was already posted on this site by someone else. Sorry for any confusion Tyler.
http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=074449
Terry
lol more pruning?
Kurt,...I chatted with one of the twins....got a little insight.
My mistake Terry.
No worries Tyler....like I said, I was trying to find a thread and the words I searched did not bring up the thread....that particular pic was one of many hog pics that were on the thread. It was about where the best place to hunt for big hogs, and that pic was somewhere in the body of the thread.
Since that pic was in the body of the thread, and didn't have a weapon in it, we didn't 'nit pick' about it and left it since it pertained to the size of hogs in Turkey more so than someone's non trad bow hero pic.
I tried to use the search feature like always, but I came up with nothing as the title of the thread must have been odd....or maybe I just missed it as I'm always running 90 MPH.
Once I found what I was looking for...I locked my thread.
