What do you all use to taper the nock and field point end on these shafts? I only have my 11/32 and 5/16 taper tools. Looking to make some arrows for my son.
Thanks.
The TruTaper tool has a 1/4" guide, it's available for $3.25 from 3Rivers. If you're only going to make a few arrows, I'd just wrap the shaft with masking tape until it's a snug fit in your 5/16" tool and use that.
I have a 1/4 inch taper tool...actually my favorite taper cutter is so old that it has a 9/32 attachement also(Think Forgewoods). Shimming the shaft will work with a 5/16 tool-either use tape as Scattershot suggested or cut up one of those worthless aluminium arrows to use as a pilot.(a 2018 should work out)
