Is there any way to take plastic nocks or feathers off wooden arrows so that they can be reused.
I use a razor sharp Victorinox paring knife to remove feathers.Just slide the blade under the feather and push away from yourself.
For nocks,,,,your on your own.
if your not worried about saving the nocks.... I take lighter and heat the nock a bit and the glue loosens up and remove with pliers
For old arrows I find that I can use a pair of pliers and just wiggle them off. On newer arrows I use a utility knife or boiling water. Hap
If I don't want to damage the arrow they are coming off of: I use a heat gun on the low setting and take my time to get the base of the feather nice and warm but not too warm. Peel off carefully or separate with a knife.
If the arrow is damaged and I don't care about the shaft: I break off the fletched part of the arrow and put it into the microwave for about 20sec. Feathers come right off.
For nocks: I get two pairs of pliers, one to hold the shaft and one to turn the nock. Use scrap leather to prevent damage
These must be some very rare nocks. :saywhat:

"These must be some very rare nocks"
No doubt !!
Mine look like they were in a real bad accident when I get done taking them off, (heat and pliers) :)
About the only time I take one off, is cause it's broke. I can usally scrape the fletching off pretty easy to change them, just takes a little paitence.
Nocks dont cost much...and its too important for them to be just right ...just my 2 cents...and you can never , I repete , NEVER HAVE TOO MAY ARRAS...LOL right guys...can I get an Amen!!! :)
I'd say "amen", but I consider it sexist... :biglaugh:
Is that like Wo men ?
heheheeeeee
Archer, for the nocks= no. They would be to weak and prone to break after removeing.
For the feathers I would say why not. You would have to sand the glue off the quill.
Boy that's what I call frugal lol. Alan
Thanks for the input. I will try the microwave tactic. As for the plastic nocks it sounds like the concensus is not to worry about them. Anything to save a little change.
