I remember when gas was .23 cents a gallon, and thongs were something you wore on your feet.
I remember the days that "coming out of the closet" meant you were going somewhere....and being gay, meant you had a smile on your face....
i remeber the days you could actually see your engine when you opened the hood... and you could tune it up yourself with plugs, points and condenser. you used a match book to set the gap instead of a computer analysis.....
i make as much money now in one hour, as i did working a week at my first real job.....
Yep! I've got a few miles on the ol' girl....
6 dog years 6.143 in November.
Old enough that all my friends in heaven will be thinking I didn't make it!!!

So old I dont order five minute eggs at the cafe no more or buy green bananas from the market, might not get to enjoy either.
Yup, life goes faster the older you get. Grandpa said life was like a role of toilet paper, the closer you get to the cardboard holder, the faster it spins.
45 wonderful years of life......been married 23 years, three happily.

My next door neighbor's son told his mom that when I was born the Big Dipper must have been a cup. Does that mean he thinks I'm old? :knothead:

I'm ten years older than God.
I remember being upset when gas went up to 48 cents.
I remember when we would go fishing up the mountatin creek at sun up and get back at dusk and that was OK.
I remember getting a Daisy gun at age 6 and being told birds with color on them were not fair game. (Most of the time)
I remember when we got our first stoplight.
I also remember when our teachers could paddle us with a board made in wood shop and we would get another one when we got home.
I remember riding my bike to the end of the paved road and then back to where the good fishing was.
I remember High School sports before Steriods and other performance enhancing durgs. Time in the weight room was what we used.
I'm 48 until August. Knees feel like I'm dyslexic.
Three kids 19, 15 and 9. One wife for 22 years this July.
Old enough to appreciate a good custom longbow and some sweet tapered Cedar arrows that I put together.
Good to see several fellow August babies out there.

29 years young. Saved by grace since 6. Net 23 years.
I'd like to have a car made the year I was born too, but they didn't make them...Seriously in 1944 all the auto plants where converted to Government/Military production..
I think they may have made a few staff vehicles, but no vehicles for civilian use
I guess that makes me 62 going on forever

We share the same birthday. I've got a bit to go before I hit 65 though. ;)
just turned 48. still lean and mean!
I'm 66 years young, and can still pack a moose out, where did the time go?
Today's my birthday,I'm 71. That may sound old but that's only because it is :D
Some of the advantages of being this old, if you can call it an advantage, are the things you remember and have experienced that others younger than you only hear or read about.
I remember outhouses behind the house and pitcher pumps in the kitchen
I remember my Mother reading the book of Robin Hood to me when I was 5 years old and I remember the first bow my Dad made for me after I heard that story. (that was the beginning of my love for archery)
I remember hearing Franklin Roosevelt live on the radio.
I remember Pearl Harbour, Air Raid drills and I remember the end of WWII
I remember the first Television, I remember party lines when people listened to your conversations.
I remember when a nickel would buy a candy bar, a bottle of soda pop, a single dip ice cream cone or a phone call on a pay phone.
I remember when cigaretts were .15 cents a pack, cigars were a nickel.
I can remember when you didn't have to lock your door when you went away because nobody would break in.
I remember where I was when John F Kennedy was assassinated. I remember Where I was when Martin Luther King was assassinated and also Bobby Kennedy.
I remember the Beatles, Elvis and Pat Boone.
These are just a few of the things that I remember, a lot of others are almost forgotten.
The thing I will never forget if I live to be 100 is the wonderful people I have come to know in the traditional archery community, many of them through this forum. They have become one of the high lights in my life.

I updated my email address, so you should be good now.
I'm 48 and just starting to shoot again for the first time 30 yrs.
Ron....
I heard that a 55 year old, a 65 year old and a 71 year old guy were sitting around zitchin about being old. The 55 year old says "you don't know old...I have trouble peeing". The 65 year old said " you don't know old, I can hardly move my bowels". The 71 year old said "you guys think you have it bad,,,,,at 6:00am every morning, I urinate. Then at 6:30 am every morning, I have a bowel movement". The other two looked at each other and said in unison " so what is so bad about that ?" to which Ron....I mean....the 71 year old said..." I get out of bed at 7:00am.
Happy Birthday Ron !
ChuckC
Anyone with a bunch of time and good with numbers want to create a sort of spreadsheet to show the ages of our crew ? Not names, just percent of say age 15-20, 21-25 etc.
Please ?
ChuckC
Here's what I got up to Chuck C
Under 20=9
20-24=7
25-29=12
30-34=13
35-39=17
40-44=26
45-49=20
50-54=27
55-59=16
60-64=11
65-69=5
70-74=4
One spring chicken of 86
Slow night-Hap
30
Thanks Hap !
So, is this a classic bell curve ?
Playing with numbers....
0-44yrs = 84 members
45-86yrs = 84 members.
years 40-54 includes 73 members, or 43% of the 168 folks that responded.
years 40-59 includes 89 members or about 53% of the responders.
years 0-39 = 58 members, or 35% of the responders.
As expected, there is a large group of "older" responders, however it is great to see so many that are under 40. They are pretty well represented in the mix.
Cool !
ChuckC
I'am47 till june, son is 14, and youngest daughter is 11
I'm 64 and will be 65 in June. Looking forward to each new bow season. The great thing about getting older is that you forget so much that its all new to you each day. Is that Alzheimers?
Well I turned 46 in January, But it aint the years it's the milage. If I had an odometer it would have turned over more than a few times.
Been shooting archery for over 40 years, 42.5 to be exact. Never have I regretted a day I spent with a bow in my hand. The only thing I do regret is I never took to carry a camera in the field. I still remember it all; but itwould be nive to share it. And to see pictures of myself as a boy shooting and with Fred Bear again. And if you'll pardon me for paraphrasing Will Rogers, I never met an archer I didn't like.
I'm 49. Did the archery merit badge in 1969. I've been hooked ever since.
Tim
47......48 in JULY

My older brother has a daughter that is the same age as my granddaughter-13. My oldest grandchild is 16; my youngest grandson is a year older- than my younger brothers year and half old son.
Family get-togethers are really confusing.
I remember milk delivered in a horse drawn 'truck'; and the milk came in bottles with paper tabs on the top.
I remember 'duck and cover'. I remember fallout shelters.
I remember singing 'happy trails to you' and 'have gun will travel'; and when you could have shoot outs with imaginary guns at SCHOOL.
I remember bobby socks; and drug stores being where you bought a soda.
I remember seeing a veteran of the civil war.
I remember the pledge of alliegence when it didn't mention God.
I remember the indian that was on the nickle; and one on the tv set at night.
I remember when the television stations ran out of shows; and you would sit next to a big wooden radio: and listen to George Burns and Gracie Allen.
I remember Jack Parr on the tonight show.
I remember the spring when all the birds died on the campus of Michigan State University; and a lady called Rachel Carson.
I remember when real men burned doe tags; and the best hunters got their deer in the first minutes of opening day.
I remember solid red hunting clothes.
I remember when rivers used to catch fire.
I remember when the police arrested you for playing 'rock and roll'.
I remember coal furnaces and clinkers and hot radiators in every room.
I remember when cars had fins.
And eating fish on friday was a sin!
And wearing 'tenner' shoes with white socks.
I remember peg pants and heavy black framed glasses and sliderulers.
And pocket liners; and 'fruit loops' on shirts.
I remember calling everyone 'Sir' or "Mam".
I remember flouride treatments. And shots that felt like mosquito bites ( so they said).
I remember small pox shots; and polio.
I remember when it took time to change reels half way through a movie- and the time filled up with little short movies: about guys called Hill and Bear.
I remember when I hunted: where those shopping malls are.
I remember when bikes weighed more than I did.
I remember when you could order a rifle through the mail.
I remember when adults: were people in college.
I remember when I had been outside at recess and when it was mine turn to drink- I was stopped by Ted Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy: who took my turn.
I remember when I sat on a mountian in Vermont and a guy asked me what I was looking at: and I told him the trees; and the clouds and the water; and the birds.... and he told me to never stop seeing those precious things.. his name was Robert Frost.
I rememeber watching the military stand guard around secret missle silos in the middle of nowhere; and people taking trips to see them.
I remember the first arrow I shot at a deer; and at the same time - the first time I missed a deer...
I think no matter how old we are; we are only old when we decide not to make anymore memories.
GOOD NIGHT MRS CALABASH-WHERE EVER YOU ARE!
too old and not young enough...im 22
I am 32

-----------------------------------------------
Of yesterday, today and tomorrow, today is all you can do much about. Have a good day. R2
P.S. Was born on Fri. 13th so black cats don't concern me much.
I can almost remember when I could do all day what now takes me all day to do. Just turned 60. Married 38 years to the same Lady who still lets me buy toys. Ain't got a darn thing to complain about.
I will turn 38 next week.
I just celebrated the 20th anniversary of my 39th birthday.
Is anyone... ?
I'm 27, though there are days when I feel twice that and others when I act half of it.
I just had my 19th annual 21st birthday.
I'm 58 been shooting since age 8. Shot 28 targets with my 4 year old grandson last year at a traditional shoot. Can't get any better than that.
60 years old, I have been bowhunter for 52 of them.
Ragi...that is misleading. I started my annual 21st birthday three years early (college).
ChuckC
45 for a few more months.
I'll be 52 in May. When my granddaughter is over however, I'm a mischievous, fun loving 7 year old. Which is usually followed by some guy much older than me wondering why he did all that 'fun' stuff until it hurt.
59 now, 60 in November.

I turned 25 on the 10th of March.
So I'm old enough to know better, but still to young to care.
All kidding aside I CANT QUANTIFY the amount of knowledge that I've gained from all you guys over the past year that I've been 'round the campfire!!!! And I'm hoping to get to know some of you greyheads before too long since I'll be graduating college here in a few weeks and I'll have vacation time to use chasing piggies or something!!!
Benha: I'm not doubting you... but... i guess i am! (i bet you can jump that fence... yeah i'll be right over here with the camera... GO FOR IT!!!)
Mike: So if i use enough bengay will i be able to work magic with leather too?
Killy:
"Matter o' fack, I don't even smell the Bigeloil and Absorbine that I got at the tack shop..."'
I actually got used to the smell of bengay for a while (messed up my arm) and it almost got me kicked to the roof of the van on a missions trip i took back in highschool!!!! good times!

Let me see now. If I say I'm as young as Ishiwannabe then you will say I'm lying. If I say I'm as old as Killie then you will say I'm lying. So no matter what I'm a liar so I'm only 10 today. When I wake up tomorrow I'll be 3 months shy of 39 to be honest. :bigsmyl:

I'm 63 trying to fool myself sometimes that I'm going on 36. Have fun doing so though. "Only as old as you feel" don't always work with some of these old joints.
I'm so old that when I go to sleep at night, the moon passes over me 3 times before I wake!!! 56 and gettin younger!!
I wondered why the moon passed over me three times while I slept :bigsmyl:
Well crap, I was going to say twenty, but I pinched a nerve at the gym today doing deadlifts, so I'll just have to admit to being 40.5. That s@#cks so much because I was thinking as I worked out that I felt 25 , but then came the 'twang'! in my lower back. I still shot both by morrison dakota and bw plx osage for over 2 hours today, so I guess I'm not dead yet. Stumpknocker (and ibuprofin).

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Back on page ten I was 48 until August, now I'm 49 until August.
Feel young and ready to run, but the body and knees think I'm 97 years old. Glucosomine Condrotin, a fresh breeze and a longbow in hand make me feel younger.

A very long time ago on here...I promised to post when I turned 60....well it happened at 12:01 a.m. Funny I don't feel any older then I did yesterday. I do feel older then I did 2 years ago though. ;)
We shrimped last night an got about 50 pounds of nice large shrimp about 24/25 to a pound. We leave this week for our annual Missouri hunt and all I want for my birthday is a shot a really nice buck.
It's funny how the years seem to go faster now but the wait for bow season gets longer every year.
As a cancer survivor...I know every day is a gift. Live every minute as though it may be your last.

I was born in the spring of 36 and I was raised by wolves...
Indians rescued me from the wolf pack. They taught me how to ride a horse and shoot a bow.
I grew to manhood hunting the woods and fields with my longbow in just a breach clout.
I finely got civilized and found a mate. She took me for better of worse and we've lived happily ever after.
