Just wondering what you all think a nice 50# yew self bow was worth?
a lot depends on who made it
Well my dad made it,he has been making them for about twenty years now and never tries to sell one. I have seen alot of self bowyers bows and his are as good or better than any I have seen. He is just always like the typical artist and says "oh its not that good". Any way I think that he makes some very good bows and would like to be able to encourage to be able to finance his hobby a little bit.
Let's see one. Pics?
Jesse, Without pics that is not going to give an honest apraisal.
A bow is worth what someone is willing to pay.And that can varie from $50-$1,200. I have a few bows that I have been offerd over $1,000.00 for and turned down and others that bearly fetched $200.
As a general rule of thumb a decent yew stave will fetch around 85-150 dollars then concidering the hours involved. Most will bring around 300.00 If it has unique character that was hard to work add another 100-200 and sinew or skins will add 75.00 each as well as tips.
Again I will add it a bow is worth what someone is willing to pay. If it looks and shoots the same as a thousand other bows out there it has nore compitition. hope that helps. Keenan
I will try to post some pics today.
