Last summer I met a young man in S.C. when my family and I went there on vacation. I took my newly completed "Little Yella" selfbow so I could shoot while we were gone.
We stayed with some folks who were gracious enough to put us up for about a week. Gabriel is the oldest of two boys this family has. He watched me shoot and he was hooked. He has a little wheely bow he shoots some, but when he saw that little yella stick, he lost all interest in the wheels.
He let my wife and I stay in his bedroom for our stay, so I told him I'd make him a bow. He said he wanted one like mine. I have acouple smaller staves so I cut him one out and went about dryin and carving it out.
She's got a couple nasty knots in her and it was a trick tillering, but here she is. 46" knot to knot.... I mean nock to nock, about 18# @16. I still need to put the finish on her and a handle wrap of Buffalo leather.
He's not a member here, but by the time I send them an email with this thread linked up he will be shortly.

I finished Gabe's bow today and sent it off to S.C.
Thanks to Tradgang for the knowledge to do something like this. You all were a part of it. I'm trying to get Gabe's parents to register and then post pics of him shooting. If not then I hope to have them send pics to me to post.
Here's a couple finished pics to enjoy;
