Tippit,
So while you were living it up with G1 at Texas Sweat (and drinking all the Tecate), I was putting the finishing touches on this for you:
4" blade (clay-coated and etched) claro walnut burl handle, mosaic pin, brass guard.
By the time you get to read this I'll be heading down to TX with G2... I'll try to get a better picture of the knife - hopefully in use! :D It'll be heading your way as soon as I get back.
Time to finish packing...
Man Jeremy, that is a beauty, blood is about the only thing that could make it better.
Wow ! That's Nice!!!
That is a thing of beauty. Doc is one lucky man.
Beautiful job Jeremy!!
Wow....I am impressed ! That is one gorgeous knife.
ChuckC
Very nice!!! That's the first knife that I've seen you use a mosaic pin for the handle. Very nice touch! I really like the shape and size of that blade. Nice hunk of wood too. Well Done!
I don't like it I love it.Kip
WOW... That sure is nice. Hopefully you will Dull it up here in a couple a days. :readit: :bigsmyl:
HEY, that walnut looks familiar! hope there's some left. :)
nice job Jeremy.
Nice knife Jeremy. Have yourself a safe trip.
That's awesome...Good Luck bud!!
Good luck "sir", LOL. Safe trip, fun hunt. Nice looking knife.
That there is what ya call artistic.
 WOW!
Dang it Jamie! Call me "sir" one more time and I'll drive out there and, well, probably get a sound thrashing, but I'll land a few too! :campfire:
Brent, nope, this is some claro walnut I had. It's real gorgeous stuff in person, but it's much less dense than the quilted walnut you gave me. I had forgotten about that when I did the handle... the balance is just forward of the guard instead of just behind it. The last one I did with this wood I added some lead at the base of the tang to compensate.
Marblesonac, I've used the mosaic pins on a bunch of knives. I've also made a bunch of knives of this style... love the blade shape, love the way the handle feels... now if I could just stop giving them away and keep one for myself!
I hope you like it Doc! One of these days we really do need to get together and pound some steel together.
You can chew the steel with him in May Jeremy hopefully. Bring a bucket of those knives with you Sir. lol
Dave, I just got a wedding invite in the mail today... May 19th! Doesn't look like I'll be able to make up your way in May. I'm sure y'all will have fun without me!
You can come earlier in the month if you like. Invitation is always open.
Beautiful work bud!! Good luck on the trip..
Aw, it's just another beautiful knife. Gorgeous blades from Jeremy's workshop are pretty routine. Ho-hum. Not! :wavey:
Jeremy you been telling FIBS to sticshooter. Now I know ya did not heat that knife in a mini forge ... Did ya?<><
OK...sorry I had to. :jumper: If ya ever make it up this way, we would be too busy hunting buddy! Good luck in Texas....great job on the knife.
That's a fact Jamie! :campfire:
Frank, I only have the one forge buddy! Everything gets done in it. It's only a 4" blade and that mini-forge I sent you should be good out to 5" or so... Now you know why I haven't made a pisticker yet! :)
I *should* be on my way to TX right now. My flight was cancelled. So was the one I tried to get on earlier and the later one. Nothing is available tomorrow... the earliest I could get down there is Monday night!
Jeremy, I just saw this post and I had to gasp! That is one beautiful knife. I'm only sorry your not on your way to Tejas to bloody it for me :(
Now I have to scrap all my plans for a knife for you and start being more creative. Your finish work exceeds just about everyone here. I guess that's why I keep my forging marks & rough look in my blades :) That is a total surprise. Thanks so much. See you soon hopefully after you return from Landry...Doc
PS: Congrats on the bow...I mean boy on the way :)
That sucks Jeremy. But you could beat out your frustration on another knife this weekend. (hint, hint) :) Are you flying Jet Blue? They turned into real pansies after that meltdown last month.
Doc, hope you had a great time in Tejas! I'll be heading to the G1 thread soon... got to live vicariously through someone!
Anyone can grind away all traces of forging marks, but to leave them there puts your bladesmithing skills on display. It's a declaration of "Look at how I made this!" Leaving them makes it hard to cover up mistakes and takes a great amount of skill...
which is why I grind and polish my knvies! ;)
Naw, Your style is different but your finish is perfect! Can't thank you enough...Doc
PS: When is the baby due? I have been thinking about something different in a knife that might just fit. You make too may beautiful hunting knives so you need something different :) Molly & I could have used it 29 years ago with our first born. Do you & your wife play cards? Doc
Too many hunting knives?? Are you feeling ok?

Must be the jet lag :)
The baby is due late July. Lots to do before then - including building a workshop next month with dedicated space for a decent sized forge! We do play cards... Now you've gone and got me all confused :D
both you guys are some of the best blade makers on here. Congrats jeremy on the blessing. And so when I fire the forge up and put a blade in they come out like yours?

Confirmed it's a boy did you now. Well we'll need an address for you before then.
Good, if nothing else, it will have a different twist to it :) Now go get on that train south & pick up a flight to Tejas...Doc
I just saw this, another nice knife Jeremy! Jeff is going to like this one for sure.
