Call me crazy, but I'm looking at an old set of Cross Country skis and am noticing that a set of take down limbs could be cut from them. The skis are flexible, yet there is a lot of power in the flex. Oh well, maybe...maybe not.

I have heard of this, maybe in one of the Traditional Bowyer's bibles. What do you have to lose? Go for it, and let us know how you come out.
I look at my skis and wonder of that as well?
Let us know if we should be cutting our skis up! lol
I saw someone did that on the OzBow site. It may have been a td recurve by bolting each ski onto a riser.
One could leave the skis intact...and try for a huge dark ages bolt launcher! Could probably toss a broom stick far enough to get Hillary to the convention...Sorry...
Has anyone seen a recurve, where the limbs are set into the riser block as opposed to laying on the outside, either fore or aft?

I'm just wondering what kind of contraptions are going to show up at MOJam this year now...
You and me both! I have been thinking of trying that for a few years. Just never got around to it yet. I need someone else to try it first :D
I tried it with fiberglass skis as a kid. Of course I had no idea that the 1 inch thick part was not going to bend nearly as much as the 1/3 inch tip. I can imagine it might work with hickory skis though
