I have sold off all my broadheads and I am wanting to use one of these, I will be buying 125gr 4 blades. For those that have used them which do you prefer and why? Mostly for deer.
If phantoms are good enough for eichler, then they are good enough for me. Stingers may penetrate a little better, because of the smaller bleeders, but the phantoms will leave better blood. Those phantoms sure sharpen up nicely and hold a good edge.

I've never been one for springy bleeders. If you want a 4 blade go with the Phantom.
Thanks guys, that's kind of the way I am leaning, a friend of mine shot a buck last year with them out of his 44# bow and he said he has never seen so much blood! I have always been a fan of Magnus though thats why its a tough call for me. Do you know if the bleeder on the Phantom still rattles or did they fix that problem?
I have one bleeder - out of a dozen - that rattles. I just add a touch of super glue and that takes care of it.
Phantoms have become my favorite broadhead.
Well, even though I've never shot the Stingers, I'd still lead toward the Phantom SS. Super heavy and tough as hell...
I don't know about the bleeders on the phantoms, but the main blade was loose and rattling on the last batch I had. Of course, that was 2 or 3 years ago and I haven't shot any since. I may just give them another try though. I really liked the cutting area of the phantom with the bleeders in place. I always thought they'd make and excellent head for turkeys.
im seriously thinking about gettin some for my longbow and recurve. seem like good heads, man, theys just too many heads out there!
I have killed deer with both and both worked great. My nod goes to the muzzy however for the bigger cut and it is easier to work with the bleeders. You do not have to have tools to get the bleeders out of the muzzy and it can be shot as a two blade if you wish.
Another die hard phantom 4 blade shooter here....
This is how well a 100 grn 4 blade magnus stinger works after it went through a bull caribou. The bow is a 53# Palmer recurve. The bull went 10 yards. It took me awhile to find the arrow...

I have used both. I like the bleeders on the stingers (smaller). But I like that I can get the Phantoms in 220 grain. My stingers are 150. SO depending on the setup I use, either Stingers, Phantoms, or Zwickeys.
Phantoms 3-1
220 grain phantom 4 blades awesome quiet and rock solid no noise. Jason that kanati bow of yours is some nice piece of equiptment.
Hey, Thanks Thomas! Well, I went and ordered the Phantoms. I wont need them for awhile but I just cant stand being without broadheads! Thanks for the help.
Phantoms have become my favorite screw in bh over 5 yrs ago. I still have 6, in the package, made by the original mfgr before Muzzy bought them out. Muzzy did not change them one bit, which I'm thankful for. The tip is extraordinary, they're razor sharp, and built super solid. -Zano
I really like the blade thickness on the stinger and the diamond point is the bomb. The 1s I have got have shaved hair easier than some other reputable heads that I have bought.
stingers
I love STOS but am thinking of trying the phantoms this year, stingers are awesome as well, but I think the phantoms more resemble the STOS(4 bladed).
Either or they will kill if the shooter puts them in the right spot.
Later
Jason
how DO you get the bleeders out of the Phantoms? just need to know for later...
I am a die hard Stinger fan, the fly like a field tip and leave a blood trail like none I have ever seen and it's hard to beat a lifetime warranty.
Are the 125s phantoms sturdy? I know folks like the big phantoms ss, but I'm only shooting 125-still strong?
ttt
I'm trying to decide between these, stingers and razorsharks for a 4blade.
Traditional only if you read the package they tell you be careful very sharp! If iI remember slide towards point and tilt ??
oh, ok, im prolly gonna get some this year...
Never used phantoms but I do know stingers fly like field points, come sharp out of the pkg and seem to hold an edge well, aren't very hard to sharpen and have a lifetime guarantee.
But--
I don't think you could argue with Fred Eichlers results either.
a friend of mine uses the phantoms and i bought some stingers on the way to the lease 3 days ago, i shot threw both legs and the heart on a 100-125 lb sow with a 125 grain stinger and it still spins true. the diamond tip is awesome. althrought i didn't get the blood that i thought i would get from a heart shot but then again she was dead in under 30 yards. if i had to due it again i would probably buy the phantoms just because i am so curious. i think they would both be great.
a close friend went to Africa two years ago. A week before the trip he broke his wrist and it was doubtful he could even shoot, let alone sharpen broadheads but heck, everything was paid for already...so he bought 18 Phantom 125's..put brass inserts in his shafts, mounted them (very sharp out of the pack he said) and headed out.
Long story short- 7 animals- 7 shots- all recovered- including two kudu bulls and a wildebeest so I guess you could say he was pretty happy with the results...one of the kudu was spot and stalk, shot as it galloped off at 25 yards through the heart, quartering away!
Both are excellent heads IMO. The Phantom cuts a bit more, I feel the Stinger is a little stronger and a made to better tolerances, win-win though, can't go wrong with either!
As far as screw in heads are concerned, I rate the Phantom second only to the Silver flame. I have shot them two bladed and with the bleeders for years. They hold up great and resharpen with most carbide quick sharpeners real easy. My experience is with the 125gr only. I have not tried the new ones by Muzzy. I took six dozen over to Africa for a big bow hunter over there. He swore by them and said they used them on everything and nothing better he stated. That's when I started using them! They are a little light for most of my setups these days so I am using the STOS most of the time and the Silver Flames for big stuff.
Stingers...cuz that's what I have! :D
They are super tough, (re)sharpen easy and fly great.
just ordered 2 boxes of phantoms, I like the big bleeder. Nothing against stingers though I have some of them buzzcuts.
