I'm looking for reasonably priced quality wooden shafts. The more traditional I get, the happier I am. I shoot a check mate falcon 45 lb. at 24 inches. Any suggestions.
Thanks

5/16 Dowels, straightened and Spined. Thats what I shoot Anyway. Wally World Dowels, or some of the Wood Suppliers that are Sponsors have a Deal if you buy in Quantity. Just get ya and ACE Roller Straighter and a Kithen Counter top, and straightening will be No Problem! Just MY Opinion of Course!!
What Shakes said. It's pretty easy to build a quality arrow out of dowel.
There are some arrow builders sponsoring this site that would be happy to set you up with some spined shaft bundles----saves a little time when compared to spine-testing a pile of dowels.

Email Manyletters at http://git-r-donearchery.com/ for prices on his 5/16 & 3/8 Ramin.
I'd recommend Allegheny Mountain Arrow Woods - www.arrowwoods.com (http://www.arrowwoods.com)
HEY ED, I've had real good luck with Bob Burton @ Whispering Wind and have just recently purchased a dozen from Rose City. I finally went back to wood only! I figure the bow is wood (and glass) so the arrow should be too(well with fletch tape and processed feathers and ferrule tight, but hey I chopped the feather!) The Turkey Double I got last year was with the shafts from Bob- I hope to scalp one with my selfbow this year and one with the MOAB.....Good luck!
Todd
I second the Allegheny Mountain recommendation.
