I have a question about a physical problem that has arisen when I try to draw my bow. I am not looking for free medical advise but just want to ease my concern. Recently it seems that I have pulled a muscle. The Pectoral muscle where it joins the armpit feels as though it is trying to tear when I draw my bow. As soon as I start into the draw and resistance begins to increase the Pectoral muscle where it joins at the armpit burns and feels as though it is trying to tear. I laid off shooting about two weeks and I thought it had gone away. Went to a 3-D tournament today and on the 23rd target it happened. The burnning came back and I did not feel as though I could finish the tournament. I don't want to cause a more serious problem that could possibly end my shooting altogether. Has anyone experenced this before and what did you do to remedy the situation. I only shoot about 47 or 48 pounds at my draw length.
Thanks, Louis
Louis, sounds like a torn muscle to me. They can take a while to heal, especialy the older we get. Rest is good, if you are concerned see a doctor. If it is bad enough you may have to put the arm in a sling for a while. Do not agrivate it anymore because if you tear it bad enough it could require surgury to fix it. See a Doc.

I tore an abdominal muscle one time doing setups with weights on my chest. It was almost 6 months before I could do setups without pain. I'd go see a doctor and let them tell ou what you need to do. If it is a simple tare you may be back in business in a couple months. You don't want to make it worse though.
Best advice is to see your doctor. He might recommend some physical therapy.I had some elbow pain that was bothering me off and on for a couple of years.Went and saw my doctor and he made some suggestions and therapy, feels great now.I kick myself for waiting. But those can take time to heal I would not make it worse without seeing a doctor.
See a doctor before you tear it........
A torn pec means surgery and more than a year off from anything.
I am no Doctor by any length, but that is a region that I would never take chance with. A torn Bicep or Pec is a disaster.
Just a little FYI is all............
get that looked at. No way will it just go away...
Go see a Doc.....please. I've got problems that may have been taken care of long ago if I would have just given it the 4- 6 weeks to heal. That was 15 years ago, still sufferin'.
GO TO THE DOC........
Dang it Louis, I was hoping you were better!!
I would agree, go see a Dr since it doesn't seem to be going away....all those purty bows of yours need you back in shape!!!
Rest , lots of rest...PT too...
