Title: BoardBow......how wide?
Post by: **DONOTDELETE** on March 09, 2007, 02:01:00 AM
I'm going out looking for a a nice board on Friday to build a boardbow and was thinking about doing one as wide as I can, hopefully I can make it about 3" (or more) at the fades taper down to about 1/2" at tips. Has anyone done this already? if so can you tell me how it turned out and do you have pic's. I was thinking of using fiberglass for backing.

probably to wide, especially if your putting fiberglass on the back. depending on the type of wood most board bows are anywhere from 11/2 to 2 inches wide. at 3 inches I believe the added mass would negatively affect the bows cast

There's plenty of board stuff on my site but I never built one that wide and I never used fiberglass as a backing. Jawge

Three inches is pretty wide, unless you're talkin a pyramid design.

I was thinking fiberglass mesh and the reason is I can get some that is wider then 3". if this kind of bow hasn't been done , then I guess I'll try it and also do another one too...
