im really excited to show this. it is for my girlfriend. my stepdad and i made it today start to what is in the pics in about 5 1/2 hours. the middle is tulipwood, and the top and bottom is brazilian kingwood. we put a strip of cocobolo along what i would call the spine. the strip is actually 7 different pieces of coco because of the length of the leftover piece i had from my first knife.
neitherof us have any woodworking skill, and on my last knife i had to use leather spacers to fill the gaps of my poor cutting of the arcs. this time what we did was put duct tape both of the blocks (tulipwood and kingwood) and then super glue the tape together. we then drew our arcs on the top and cut our shapes from both blocks at the same time. it worked out pretty good, but there was a few spots where we bet too much pressure on the blade and the pieces didnt quite match up. the good thing about this is that we got this knife handle and another handle block out of the process that is the opposite of this knife (tulip, kingwood, tulip) that i will use on another knife in the future.
this hasnt been hand sanded or finished yet, but i just had to share. i will follow up with the final pictures if anybody is interested.

Nice work.
But something you said... "it is for my girlfriend."
You've got a girlfriend who appreciates a custome made hunting knife!? Dang, dude... you're not going to see many of those in a lifetime. Better treat her good.
