For you guys that have built alot of bows. I was told that a bow will be faster when using black glass verses clear with everything else being the same. The gentleman told me this has built bows for 50 years. Is this true or just a myth? has anyone done any testing? Thanks
Black glass is a little stiffer than clear glass so it has the potential to make a quicker bow.How much is anyones guess but you would need a good crony to measure it in most cases. jmo
So does that mean it will come out at a little higher poundage or that the limb will recover faster? I noticed when I seen OL Addocks fist Acs design that those were black glass. By the way where has OL been hideing? I havent seen him post here in a while.
Alot of floks may disagree, but in my humble opinion I think it's splitting hairs. If there is a difference I'd say a guy would never notice it. I usually build what I think will look the best.
A slight edge, I would venture to say,(I have chrono'ed both) The hard part is in building two identical twins, one with each. I still believe that life is too short to not use clear glass and thin veneers of any nice wood. Oh and by the way my favorite shooter just happens to have black glass!
