David

Nice Mickey,

Well, at least now I know when my turkey season is going to be (MI drawing results were just posted). It starts April 30th and goes for one week. That's still a long ways away. Plenty of time to make some arrows, get my gear organized and practice my diaphram calling that hasn't been used since last May.
Great picks Mickey. You know it's more than a little frustrating seeing those picks and knowing the season is still amost two months away. But probably not as frustrating as you knowing that all those bad boys are heading over the ridge and out of your hunt area two weeks before your season starts!
Man all these pics are going to make the wait until May impossible. You guys are killing me with all the turkey stuff. I can't wait to go try my new Lil Favorite out on some big o'l toms. Oh well I guess it just gives me more time to practice and scout. IF IT EVER STOPS SNOWING!!!!!!
Tim
Dang!
Nice pics Mick, they better fold up before these west winds (40mph) get there or they'll be in a new zip code!!
Wingnut, that does remind me of school, the young ladies aren't payin a bit of attention to all their antics!
Yep, the toms in my gamebird pen are strutting like mad and won't shut up either. Every time I blow the whistle when dog training, they gobble!...
Very Nice, we cannot hunt them until May 1st. which to me is too late! Shawn
Awesome pics - they are starting to strut here too, just around the corner, can't wait. Great pic of the two toms face to face!!
Jake (no pun intended)
Nuthin' strutting here today! It's nasty out!
Awesome Mickey, thanks again for the pics.
Thanks for sharing the pictures Mickey. That "mirror" picture is amazing and is now my new desktop background. Hope ya don't mind my borrowing it for a little while.
Chuck
GAH! THAT's IN your yard!? and I thought we had a lot of turkey. sheesh. I think that picture with all the toms would make me "flock shoot". :knothead:
These pictures sure get a guy fired up!
Derek
Looks like our season comes in April 23..what? 7 weeks from now. Too long. Can't believe these toms can keep this up for a month or more, but they do.
Youth only (Spring) wild turkey season

I'll keep posting pics. I've got literally hundreds on file and probably take 30 or 40 pics a day when they are strutting.
Will try and find a really good wallpaper tom for you.
How about this one?

where did you get all those motorized decoys at ?
ChuckC :D
Chuck I got them at Bass Pro...only cost me $6000 but the realism of flock simulation brings the real birds in from miles away. Trouble is last year I shot 2 and when they quit flopping I found out I had shot them right thru the batteries :biglaugh:
Thanks Mickey for all the cool pics. They make a great slideshow.
Nice shots right there Ferret!
Real nice pics, were still waist deep in snow around here. Like Shawn says not till may first in NY. The first week is good but the real fun is the last few days of the season end of may. That is when you have a chance at that bird that had eluded everyone all season long if he runs out of hens.
THE THREE AMIGOS

Ha ha don't ya just hate when you ruin good batteries ! Those are some awesome shots. Bet you can hardly wait for season to start. I still have a couple feet of snow on the ground here, and the birds are still banded up for winter weather.

Hey Mickey I'm under 50 years old will you take me out in the youth hunt :bigsmyl: i wont be much trouble
Awesome
Great pics Mickey!
I expect they'll be out there in about 45 mins so a new group of pics should be coming
Course how many different ways can you take a pic of a turkey?
I never get sick of looking at turkeys or hearing them. Take them pics till they don't come around anymore. You never know what image you will capture.
How about this one I took a few minutes ago of a tom strutting in front of my blind (set here for photography purposes only)
How to tell a strutting jake from a mature tom
A mature tom has a fan that's is even all the way around (feathers all the same length)
whereas the fan of a jake has longer tail feathers in the very center of the fan

Unbeleivable...keep them coming Mickey, I love these pics.
How come the ground around my house is all white, and I can't see any of the stuff in your yard?
David
Do you see many bearded hens in your state? We seem to have more than our share around here it seems i see a couple every spring.
I must confess I am coveting this birds feathers for fletching some arrows I am building!!! Those are some beautiful birds. I can think of as trout flies I could use them for too.......
Right in front of your blind! My gosh!
Stoneknife as I mentioned in another thread with turkey pics, biolgists say that about 5% of hens grow beards, and that has been my finding as well. Out of approx 60 hens in this flock, 3 have beards.

TURKEYS!!!!!!!!!!GOBBLE-OBBLE-OBBLE-OBBLE-OBBLE!!!!! :archer:
I think that is about the percentage of women I see with beards too, Ferret,....5% around here. Must be something in the water.

"How about this one I took a few minutes ago of a tom strutting....." :saywhat:
So Mr. Ferret, are you noticing any regular pattern to their movement? Do the atomic clock guys call you to check their settings? :bigsmyl:
Don't think I would be able to refrain myself from attempting to arrow a couple of them :knothead:
Forester..normally they are prretty regular. They feed at a neighbors just after first light/fly down then wander over our way. They were pretty much a no-show today though. Dianne and I were waiting on them with hot tea, camera and binocs in hand and only 6 jakes showed up. Hmmm wonder where they are this morning.Beautiful morning too!

Great pics as usual Ferret!!
Hey I didn't know turkeys like hot tea??
LOL I don't know about turkeys liking the hot tea but I can't seem to start a morning without a cup or 3. Yessir hot tea with creme and sugar and some cinnamon toast. One fine breakfast.
