i WOULD LIKE TO USE GOLD TIP 5575'S with this bow and would like to know how much weight would you use to start to tune this set up. Stump shooting and white tail deer ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm shooting a recurve at 50#@29 in draw?
thank you
DEAN
Dean, I use 100 grain brass inserts and 125 field tip and 135 2 blade broadhead. 50# Kodiak @ 27 inchs 51 # Tomahawk SS. I prefer 3555"s Just my setup everybody is slightly different.
Wingshooter
From what I've been told with my 50# curve is that I would have to step down to 3555 and 200 to 250 up front to fly good. 29" arrow. hope this helps.
I'm shooting a 50@29 Savannah with a FF string. I'm using 29.75" 5575s with a 100 grain brass insert and a 250 grain fp. Too stiff. I switched to a dacron string and 29.5" 3555s with a 100 grain brass insert and a 175 grain fp fly perfectly straight.
I have 2 dozen gold tip 5575's and need to know what i have to do to make these work? or should i sell them and buy 3555?thank you
Dean you are right on the line with that poundage. The easiest thing to do here is to sell the 5575's and go to the 3555. You could get the 5575's to work but you may have to add so much weight that it will affect the trajectory of the arrow at longer ranges. Oh... one more thing if you bow is a recurve you will have a better chance of getting it to work(because is it more likely cut to center). If your bow is a longbow you can forget using the 5575's at that poundage - they are just to stiff to get around the riser. Just my 2 cents.
I shoot a bear grizzly 55# @28. I only draw 26 so i'm somewhere around 50#draw. I shoot gold tip 35/55's 28 inches long with 200 grains up front and they fly great.
