Title: Ribtek and Grizzly help w/carbon arrows
Post by: CMR on February 28, 2007, 07:22:00 AM
I'd like to try some Ribtek and Grizzly BH's.
But I'm having a problem with trying to equal them to my field pts.
On one bow, I shoot 125gr points.
On another bow, I shoot 145gr points.

What adapter and broadhead combo would work?
Should I be concerned with going over my field pt weight with the broadhead? Even if its a little bit more weight?

The same weight is the best objective, but if you get to within 5-10 grains I'd be shocked if you could tell a difference.  Now if the bow isn't tuned for broadheads yet, that you'll see.

A Grizzly 125 on a Magnus 25 grain short adapter would be 150 before sharpening, that would be one option for you.  To get to 125 grains for the other bow, I'd suggest the glue in style adapters (insert and taper combo style) with a 125 grain broadhead of your choice.

Easier still would be to jump both your bows to the 145 grain points.

Are there issues w/using the short adapters on BH's that don't have any bleeder blades? Looking at the Grizzly and all that space for the adapter w/using the short adapter.....is that something to be concerned with?

Tried to shoot 145gr w/both bows but I'm using two different arrows.
Yeah, I know..why the heck would I want to do that!!   :knothead:

Unless you have your Ribteks, think hard. I understand the owner-manufacturer has retired and sold his equipment piecemeal.

Until or unless someone acquires manufacturing rights, stock of broadheads is limited to what is out there now.

CMR,

Once the head is on the adapter you'll never know the difference, at least I can't tell any.  Just use a good strong adapter.

Some shooters feel they get easier alignment with long adapters, I personally have better luck with shorter ones, it gives me more leeway for adjustments so I can achieve perfect spin.

If you ever run into some of the old Easton glue in insert type adapters, they fit a Grizzly like skin...simply perfection.  They never made any in carbon sizes, but they still pop up from time to time in older aluminum sizes.

Current as of 3/4/07.

Ribtek Broadheads is currently undergoing a business restructure.

Broadheads will now not be sold direct from the manufacturer.

Customers wanting Ribteks can purchase them from Archery Outlets.

Or from the Ribtek Stock purchaser,
