Recovering from a little injury at a friends place I found the time to take pictures of the bows I finished last sep/oct/nov.
because of the ammount of shots I'll put every bow in this thread.
I hope you'll enjoy
The first is a Lava stained Guava.
64" ntn 68# @ 26", 1 1/16" at the fades, 1 1/4" reflex, 1/8" positive tiller, Ipe overlays. paraffin finish
This is how I make my lava soil stain

Manny, that looks about as sleek and perfect as a stickbow can be. Truly exceptional. With those light limbs and tips, I imagine it's a fire-breather!
Thanks,
This is by far the finest shooting bow I've made.
I'm figuring out the best desings for this wood, and yes the super narrow outher limbs are a big part of it.
gotta take a break now, get back at it in a bit
Manny, that bow is really beautiful!! You are making some increadible weapons!
Your best work yet Manny, very well done. I love the unbraced profile, nice and subtle reflex.
thanks guys :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
Manny- awesome work..... as usual!
I just knew the next bow you post is gonna be a beaut. Manny that's a work of art. We've miss you bro.
Next is a bamboo backed Ipe,
the strips of boo are 3/4" taken from a blind, they butt at the handle where I glued a strip of zebrawood over it.
The 2 wraps on the top limb are to stop 2 splinters in the Ipe, first wrapped with silk than artificial sinew.
64" ntn, 73# 2 26", zebrawood overlays, linseed oil finish

I had this 2 funky staves, kinda similar, so I tryed to make 2 bows with similar specs.
because of the original shape the braced look of the Guava is kind of weird.
low 60's @ 26", 64" ntn, opposite overlays, no stains, paraffin finish

manny your bows are absolutely gorgeous!!
I really enjoy looking at your bows. Great craftmenship. thank you for sharing this......Mark
Looking forward to seeing them in person!!
Manny, you've really got to make one of those Guava bows 62" or less (that's the longest the UK Post office'll take!) 55-60# at 29" :D P.P.P.Pleeease!!! :D
Beautiful as ever mate! I guess the solitude agrees with your creativity!
Manny can I ask you two questions right quick. You said the boo on the one bow was from a blind?
Second, how do you make the arrow rest you have on your bows?
Great looking bows, wonderful craftsmanship as always
Thanks guys,
LoneWolf, yeah I got those strips of bamboo from a window blind, I don't know if you have them in the mainland but they are real commom here.
Arrow rest ? I usually glue 2 peaces cut from a leather belt, I cut them V shaped, one smaller than the other than with a razor blade take the corners off so it got smooth sides, lately I like to radious the top of the rest, just a nice mellow curve.
What I would give to be able to make bows like that. Wow!
Manny-
Fantastic looking bows.
I especially like the lava stain. Very creative.
I'v been collecting several different natural earth dyes for a totally primative bow I have floating in my head.
Bryan
Just plain ol' purty!!!
That silk-backed bow is a LOOKER!! Nice work, man. I have a long long ways to go....
Jeff
Love the lava stained bow - I did some hiking on Kauai last fall and I've got a bunch of clothes that got stained on that trip - every time I put on a stained pair of socks or a stained t-shirt it takes me back to that trip. Seeing that lava stained bow took me back there again - thanks...
I really enjoy these build-alongs of yours. I learn something new every time I look at one of your creations. Thanks for sharing Manny. I really admire your skills.
Terry
Thanks everyone :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
