I have an elm bow that didnt quite come out with a good enough tiller, so I tried tempering the belly in hopes to make the tiller a little better at the weight I want. Since I cant probe the wood now with a moisture meter, how long should I wait til I can work it again?
I've not had any problem getting back on 'em the next day. But then again I mostly tiller my bows out to 25"-26" so I'm not stressing 'em to bad. I seen on the boards where some will wait from one day to a week. Lot depends on your humidity right now I suppose.-ART B
I didnt coat them with crisco or anything. Heat on bare wood. I was hoping I didnt have to wait that long, Im kinda eager to see if I can fix it.
I think you can go for it,I hear Elm takes it like a champ,.....I like tweeking tillers with spot tempering
