Title: Will it hurt to shoot under recommended brace height?
Post by: dogsBHTG on February 26, 2007, 08:20:00 PM
My Viper Deluxe is recommended for an 8" brace height. But I found my best arrow flight and accuracy comes from 7" is it ok to shoot this bow with this brace height?

I started out shooting my 40 lb Viper at 6½" but the string slap was loud against my armguard. I get good accuracy and less slap noise at 7".

I was gonna say the only thing it'll probably hurt is your forearm if you're not wearing a bracer.....smacked mine pretty good till I got the BH set right............and THEN decided to use the armguard.

The proof is in the shooting, listen to what your bow is telling you.  You'll get better performance at 7 inches also.

The recommended brace height is just that ,,, recommended,,,,puts ya in the ball park to allow each individual to tune the bow to themselves.
Like Varmit said, wear an arm guard, especially you guys who are converts..

What Varmint & Kingstaken said!
A little lower = a little more speed & noise.
A little higher = a little less speed & noise.

Either is hardly noticeable. The key is where it performs best for you!

Im not gettibg any wrist slap but the minute it dropps under 7" is a different story. But I was amezed how much changing brace height made a difference in my grouping.
