A while ago I posted a poll on wether you hang on to your bow or hang it up while tree stand hunting. I was surprised how many hold on to their bow. I always wanted to hang on to my bow, but I was always concerned about dropping my bow out of the stand. I made a little something that Im gonna try this season, and would like to share my idea with my fellow Tradgangers. I took a piece of parachute cord, 15 inches long, and made a loop at one end, and put a plastic hook on the other. I attach the loop end through my beltloop, and use the end with the plastic hook to attach to my bowstring.. It should be simple enough to unhook it while on stand seeing how you have it in your lap, and then just let it hang. I hope this helps someone out. Its "cheap insurance"

I normaly hold mine and may try that this year. I had never worried about dropping my bow until last year. Even though I can remember dropping mine twice once in Colorado and once in Indiana neither time did any damage at all (not even a scratch), but with that being said last October my Dad dropped his Bob Lee about 20 feet from a stand. It landed with the back of the riser pointing down on a large root cracking the riser from end to end! After that little incident I now worry abit about dropping mine. I think I'll make me one of those up!
Richard,
That is a FANTASTIC idea....gonna give it a try too.

My Seat-O-The-Pants harness has a short piece of cord and a clip for that very purpose. More than once it saved me from dumping my bow on the ground.

I have been using a safety cord like that for quite sometime now. Keep mine attached to the d-ring on my safety harness.
It is a great idea and has saved me from dropping my bow more than once.
For me this is a must have for those long days in the stand.

Man....I thought I came up with a neat idea. I didnt know they had something like that out...my mistake.. :banghead:
I use something like that when I'm in stand, but I like yours better...
Richard if you hunt in your P.J's you have a better chance of dropping the bow when you fall asleep.Good idea I dropped my Bob Lee last year about 13'lucky no damage.
Soory bout that my wife was washing my jeans at the time
Frassettor,,,I do not know if there is anything made like this. I was shown this along time ago by an older gentlemen while we were waiting to sign up for a hunting area on Fort Bragg.
This is a great idea to share and you were the one who has introduced it to Trad Gang.
My hats off to you sir for sharing.
