Getting a new longbow this summer and I'm gonna practice for rabbits next season, so what kind of stuff do I need for rabbits, I was gonna go with judos points, but I dont want to put anything on an arrow that I'm not afraid to lose, what is a cheap, good, reliable small game point and should i go with carbon or aluminum or wood arrows?
You're gonna lose a few & bust a few. If you want to keep the cost reasonable, make them out of dowels & tip 'em with wingnuts! Nothing too fancy, just a single dip w/ bright fletching. A lot of guys are using bunny busters too.

how do you tip em with wing nuts???
the new easton xx75 gamegetter ll r awsome, and cheap!!!
i got the 500's and they're just perfect!!!
at fsdiscountarchery they cost $35 per dozen,
u can get 50 5" feathers for 16 bucks, i would use muzzys with practice blades, they really dont skip as much as u would think,
but a blunt or hex would do just fine.
whats the draw weight on ur new bow??
its gonna be between 47-50 #'s
thats what my bow is,
500's will be perfect,
@28" w/ a 100g point the arrow will weigh 438g,
that was always more than enough wen i used them on my wabbits
i also used them on my 55lb spirit ll recurve before the limb snapped on me, they shot perfectly out of that as well
Judo's are pretty hard to loose, i went out looking for bunnies today saw none but did some shooting. I took many shots and the snow was deep i never lost an arrow. I use judo's for stomp shooting i shoot them into bails targets nerf balls so far i have killed a rabbit and a woodchuck with one, i think there worth the money.
I used judo's this morning and didn't get many shots. I have been almost every sunday since the first of the year and have not broken or lost one arrow. I would not have said that, except this is the last day of the season for me.
I also have some hex heads and some weighted 38 casings. All work on bunnies. Last weekend Tood put a hex clean through a cottontail at about 45 yards. I was watching through binos and was really impressed. Judo points don't do well with intervening brush, so if you have lots of small weeds, try a hex or 39. I am going to try some wingnuts next year.
sounds like judos are bad around brush, i will be hunting swamp rabbits in south louisiana, lots of brush and thorny stuff
Judos are pretty good, but they do snag brush. Wingnuts are good and ya can sharpen them a little, ya just get 5/16ths. and screw them on a wood shaft or out them on with a 8/32nd(I believe) machined screw. I put a bunny hunt on each year and I am starting to really like an old fashioned blunt or a hard plastic blunt. The rubber ones just do not shock enough for our big northeast bunnies, even out of 80# bows. Shoot whatever arrow ya want, as ya do not lose a lot unless ya have snow. We had 2ft. of snow for our hunt this year(Joan Leonard Memorial Bunny Hunt see thread)and I got 19 shots and used the same arrow for 12 of those. Shawn
Use a washer behind a screw in field point...A scorpio behind either a glue on or screw in field point, I also like Tiger Claws.
You guys all have it pretty much covered...
One other thing....practice the close shots.
I like using game nabber points on rabbits. They are basically a blunt (with a small point) that flares back with a cutting edge which helps to keep the arrow in the rabbit. A cheap alternative is to use a tooth washer (outside diameter), behind a field point. It has a similar effect as the a game nabber point.
