Think those California Hogs over in the Dangerous Game thread were big? Well check this porker out!
We were out stretching fence when the guy I was working with pointed out the hogs and told me to get after them with my longbow. I'm always willing to put off work in order to chase critters with my bow, so I headed up the hill with my stick and arrows in hand. The older pigs in the group were bedded up in the thick sumac, but the younger pigs roamed around outside the group. I stalked and watched for quite a time before this youngin offered up a shot. I ain't picky!
He aint a trophy pig by any means, but he's my first with the longbow, so I'm proud of him.
If I had been shooting arrows instead of shooting pictures, I maybe could have taken a bigger hog, but like I said, I ain't greedy when it comes to free meat.
(50lb longbow, gold tip traditionals 3555's, and a 125gr Magnus 2 blade head)

...and the little guy cooked up nice too! Mike
Thats cool. Congrats!
Indeed he did Mike! I still feel bad about the pig snapping off one of Big Mikes arrows, but I think bringing in that smoked pork to the shoot the other night helped make up for it!

Nice little porker! I want to hunt them someday when i can.
Good Job. Looks like that new longbow has some good mojo already! MMMMM bacon.
Skin him out, hold a match under him and that's a one meal fast food for the Vanilla Gorilla! Yahoo! :jumper:
Congrats!! Great paint job on that youngster. It will make someone a very happy eater!
Ain't nothing wrong with that porker. :) I know often times I might be in close to a pack of pigs and see a nicer hog I would like to shoot. However knowing how they can leave as fast as they come I take the one that gives me the right shot as soon as the shot is there.I will think about the bigger ones that might have been while skinning. :D
awesome pig I wish I lived down south where I could hunt them more often they sure do taste good.

Yo, Vanilla, you got to start some where man, and that's a great place to start.
Butterfly that thing and deep it into some BBQ sauce and you got a pig on a stick.
Way to go, now go get his daddy and triple your groceries.
PS. If he charged you, you can put him in the DAGERUS GAME link.
